Drowning

Waves crashing
Tossing me around
Stripping me of my control
My skin drying out
Cracking
The salt pooring in
Adding insult to injury
Stinging the dust of my soul
One after another
The waves crash upon me
Dragging me under the water's grip
Stealing what they will from me
The fish taking my fleash
The sharks drink my blood in
The waves sift me from my reality
With each wave which crushes on me
Another carries away parts of my life
My control
My dreams
My thoughts
My strengths
My goals
My future
One piece at a time
Painstakenly slow
So I have more then adequate time to mourn
The visual loss of each one
Until I am but a battered shell
Which filles with the soiled salt water
Weighting me
Dragging me down into the sea where I now live
Wish to know where the mermaids come from?
They are created from people like me.....
