The sun rises
Stretching out from the hidden side
Reaching across the dark sky
The beauty of its colors creating poetry
Songs
Love
A sense of peace in any awake still to see it
The silver lining creating proverbs
A creation so lovely
Repeated every morning
Yet different from all other mornings
Because you are there this morning to see it
To feel it.

You get what I mean?
You feel like that sometimes
Then you still like living
I use to
Feel hope and alive
A tingling awareness at it's beauty
As if some deity was telling me a secret only I could hear
You feel like that
Then there is still hope for you
That feeling use to last all day
I walked around
Holding the secret close
Yet it leaked out in an infectious smile
Spreading everywhere

Then life happened
People died
People cried
And lied and hurt me
Bruise grew and faded
Were replaced with more vivid scars
Eyes dimmed
Yet the sun rise still held that secret for me
But my smile dimmed after a few hours
Then minutes
Until it was finally only faint seconds
But it was still there
Barely

Days continued on
Getting longer
More painful
Sunrises forgotten in all the pain flooding my way
Drowning out my secret
Until I no longer and pure enough to hear it
No matter how long I try to
I feel nothing
Except cursed at being condemned to one more day I see the sun set now
Counting down each one
Praying to not awake to another
Yet I always seem to
I sleep through the sunrises now
They bring me nothing any more
Nothing but pain and emptiness

A blade by my side
I watch the last sunset I will see
No longer able to cope
I cut
Watching the colors bleed out of the sky
And me
Returning any trace of a secret I still may have held
I watch the stars be born and then fade
They say it is the darkest hour just before the dawn
This is the hour I stay in
All color gone
I see no more of the sun............
