Ster bedreigt aarde!

Een Amerikaanse student heeft een ster (HR 8210) ontdekt die op het punt staat om Supernova te gaan. Omdat de ster dichtbij de aarde staat (150 lichtjaar) kan het al het leven op aarde bedreigen. De minimum afstand om een supernova te overleven wordt geschat op 160-200 lichtjaar.

De hoge electromagnetische straling en kosmische straling die vrij komt in de supernova kan de ozone laag binnen minuten vernietigen. Al het leven op de planeet kan binnen minuten uitgeroeid worden.

Ziet er niet best uit met de aarde dan. Al het leven binnen 1 minuut wordt dan uitgeroeit. Het zal alleen pas over zo'n 150 lichtjaar zijn :o

Lichtjaar is een afstand, net als mm, cm, dm, km... :p

Eén lichtjaar is de afstand die licht in één jaar kan afleggen. :p
Dat is dus een afstand waarover het licht 150 jaar onderweg zou zijn...
150 jaar reizen, met de snelheid van het licht. ;)

En die site zegt wel genoeg over de betrouwbaarheid.
Zodra het op www.nasa.gov staat, geloof ik het. ;)
