Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra & Tra-La-La Band - Horses In The Sky
 

Vanochtend vroeg zocht ik naar de tekst van 'The Triumph Of Our Tired Eyes' van Silver Mt. zion en toen kwam ik stomtoevallig een bericht tegen dat gisteren hun nieuwste cd in Europa was uitgekomen. Ik wist nergens iets van, dus ik was blij verrast! Vandaag naar de platenboer, die had hem helaas nog niet maar vermoedde dat hij hem nog ergens deze week binnen zou krijgen. De LP schijnt al ietsje langer uit te zijn, maar volgens de platenboer kwam deze juist later dan de cd...


Maar goed, het artwork ziet er in elk geval (alweer) werkelijk subliem uit:

Dit is wat de band zelf over de nieuwe release te melden heeft:

we recorded some of it next to a campfire by the river, and the sleepy birds even chirped a little there beneath the moonlit trees; "yes we are oh yes we are thee silver mt. zion memorial orchestra and tra-la-la band"... troubled fingers strive to knit upward ladders, joyously; THESE SONGS ARE STICKY, WORRIED KNOTS--- everyone sang and handclapped too---(we learned to play these songs on the road mostly...)

"THIS IS OUR TORCHED ESTATES" = 6 busted "waltzes" for world wars 4 thru 6, or the sound of our nervous unit collapsing across sing-song eruptions of anxious light and clumsy heat, "mystery&wonder, messy hearts made of thunder," tape recordered at thee mighty hotel2tango for all the GENTLE dreamers to cradle or discard... the politics of it is just love thy neighbour mostly, or heartbroken temper tantrums for grumpy refusers, or saucy anthems for all the stubborn dumbass resistance cadres maybe...(first song's about war and drug addiction, fourth song's about kanada, and the rest of it is all love songs trulytrulytruly...) the indignant critics amongst us should note that as usual there's more questions than answers here, more complaints than solutions, and at times the group singing is a little out of tune; the name of the record is "horses in the sky", and we thank you all for still listening...


Ik ben echt ontzettend benieuwd. Is er iemand die hem al geluisterd heeft? Ikzelf dus nog niet, maar zodra ik hem heb zal ik hier mijn mening uittypen.

ik heb hem 1x geluisterd. Puike plaat, maar die zang werkt me echt op m'n zenuwen.

Dat heb ik gelukkig nooit gehad bij hen, dus ik vertrouw erop dat ik deze ook weer briljant vind en dat ie in m'n eindlijstje belandt

het zijn prima nummers. Als je die band volledig digt, is dit een zeer goede release naar mijn mening :)

ik wist niet eens dat er een nieuwe plaat onderweg was :)

@paranoid android: ja ik dig die band volledig en ik ben nu dus nog nieuwsgieriger!

ja de 'zang' blijft appart, vond het bij Movie (Neved Made) totaal niet storen en juist aangenaam.

Maar bij dit album moet ik er nog even aan wennen.

Ik kan zijn stem soms echt waarderen, maar "andere soms" werkt het ook wel lichtelijk op de zenuwen..

Toch ben ik erg benieuwd en zal ik hem eens gaan beluisteren, ergens.

Geweldig album, opgewekter dan de voorgaande albums. Zang vind ik ook erg gaaf, het doet bij tijd en wijlen denken aan Pink Floyd's The Wall. (y)!
