Gebhardt verlaat Motorpsycho
 

Motorpsycho-drummer Håkon Gebhardt houdt ermee op:

To psychonauts, journalists and whoever else it might concern.

As of March 2005 Håkon Gebhardt is no longer a member of Motorpsycho.
He feels his involvement with Motorpsycho has reached its natural
conclusion, and prefers to continue his work with HGH and the various
other projects he has been involved in since the last Motorpsycho
album and tour proper in 2002. There is no animosity between Geb and
the band, we are still the best of friends, and Motorpsycho wishes him
all the best in his new musical pursuits. Hans Magnus 'Snah' Ryan and
Bent Sæther fully intend to keep on being Motorpsychos, and are
currently hard at work writing new material. No replacement for Geb
is yet confirmed.

When the motorpsycho system is running, it is an all-absorbing process
for everyone. When the time came to start working on material for the
next album, Geb found that his heart wasn't in it, that he didn't have
the energy required, and decided to leave. Being the gentleman he is,
he recognised his inability to fully commit to the band and did the
right thing. Over the last years he's found other outlets for his
creativity that are closer to what he really wants to do in music, and
I know he feels - like we do - that if you're not 100% dedicated, you
might as well leave it alone. Snah and I respect, understand and under
the circumstances agree to his decision: any band needs to fire on all
plugs to work, everything else is just a waste of time for
everyone. We will obviously miss him, though. He was very important in
shaping Motorpsycho as we know it over the last 14 years, and whoever
replaces him, has some enormous shoes to fill.

Motorpsycho has no touring commitments to fulfill at the moment, and
it's impossible to set an E.T.A. on the next Motorpsycho album right
now. We have to get our heads around this before anything can happen.
It'll take some time, but we have full confidence in our ability to
keep the band going and to do it right. Both Snah and I feel that
Motorpsycho still is a valid creative force and will dedicate all our
energy to keeping it that way.

Gebhardt will tour Germany with HGH in April.

Ik moet zeggen dat ik hier allesbehalve blij mee ben :( Jullie?
De band stopt er niet mee (godzijdank!) maar als Geb weg is dan is wel 1/3 van Motorpsycho weg en dan is Motorpsycho niet meer hetzelfde... Ik weet nog niet hóé vreselijk ik het vind.


En ja, dat er veel mensen zijn die of de band niet kennen of de band niet leuk vinden of niet metal genoeg, weet ik. Het gaat me meer om de mensen die de band wel kennen en leuk vinden. Danku.

Maar Motorpsycho is erg divers, de latere cds zijn totaal anders dan de eerdere(deze).

hm, het lijkt me vrij logisch als iemand motorpsycho niet metal vindt :confused:
maar goed, ik weet niet hoeveel artistieke inbreng de drummer had in hun muziek, dus ook niet echt hoe erg ik het zou moeten vinden.. ik vind die cd's rondom phanerothyme het koelst ( downloadtips: california, theme de yoyo ( met jaga jazzist (y))

De heilige drie-eenheid is niet meer :(

En aan de tips zou ik m'n favoriete Motorpsycho album willen toevoegen: "Let Them Eat Cake" <3

das inderdaad geen goed nieuws.
als bij zo'n band 1 iemand weggaat dan is het gewoon anders..
wat is dat toch met al mijn favo bands, dat er steeds mensen uitgaan of de band ermee stopt :(

da's zonde, hoewel ik een drummer niet indispensable vind. Ryan en Saether zijn toch wel de drijvende kracht achter het geheel.
Ben benieuwd naar nieuw werk :)

Het is wel een beetje zo dat Ryan en Saether een grotere rol in het geheel hebben, maar ze zijn al zolang bij elkaar... Hij moet toch wel een flinke invloed hebben opgebouwd.

mijn favo plaat is overigens Roadwork vol. 1, een werkelijk FANTASTISCHE liveplaat, die ik overigens nog niet heb. :( (Motorpsycho is verder mn grootste individuele collectie met 9 cd's..) Favo studioplaat is Trust Us met het 'uber-emo' nummer Vortex Surfer.

Roadwork 1 is inderdaad erg leuk. Roadwork 2 met die jazzsectie er bij trouwens ook wel.
Ik houd zelf meer van het nieuwere werk, Phanerothyme en It's A Love Cult enzo. :)

ik ook, ik vind het allemaal geweldig, maar trust us vind ik gewoon het beste omdat daar alles in zit.. Psychedelica, jams, het harde van het oude werk etc.

Mjah, Trust Us ken ik niet zo goed, welke nr's staan daar ookweer op?
