Brief Engels
 

Ik moet een brief inleveren voor Engels,
maar ik kom 20 woorden te kort en ik weet geen goede afsluitzin..

Dit is de opdracht:
1. Zorg voor een passen begin en bied je verontschuldigingen aan
2. Leg uit dat jullie, na ontvangst van de brief, de zaak hebben onderzocht. Leg uit hoe de schade is ontstaan en vermeld ook dat de leden van de club die de schade hebben veroorzaakt al een passende straf hebben gekregen
3. Verklaar dat de club de verantwoordelijkheid op zich neemt. Het bedrag van ₤ 40 is al overgemaakt naar de bankrekening van de jeugdherberg
4. Vermeld dat een ander groepje leden over een paar weken ook weer gebruik zou willen maken van de jeugdherberg
5. Spreek de hoop uit dat jullie, ondanks dit vervelende voorval, nog vaak in de jeugdherberg zullen kunnen overnachten. Maak ook nog even een prijzende opmerking over de jeugdherberg (bv: mooi gelegen, goed onderhouden, prettige leiding)
6. Zorg voor een passend slot

Dit is de brief:

Dear Mr Simmons,

I would like to apologize for the damage we have caused. After we had received your letter, we examined how the damage was caused. The scorch in the floor-recovering is caused by someone who dropped his cigarette on the floor. The leg of the bed is broken because someone jumped on the bed. The ones who caused the damage have already had a suitable punishment.

Of course, the members of the club are taking their full responsibility for the damage. We have also transferred the amount of ₤ 40 to the account of the youth hostel.
Another group members of our club wants to visit your youth hostel about a few weeks.

I hope that we are able to visit your hostel many times, in spite of this unpleasant incident. We are all very satisfied about the course of affairs in your hostel. The service is good, the building is in a good state of repair and the neighbourhood is beautiful. We had a very good time in Greenlawns Hostel!

Ik had maar 3 fouten in mijn vorige brief!

We hebben een nieuwe opdracht gekregen:

1. Vertel hoe je aan het adres van Dreamland bent gekomen. Geef aan dat je het pretpark niet kent, maar dat je oom en tante er geweest zijn en heel enthousiast waren.
2. Stel jezelf voor (geslacht, leeftijd, nationaliteit) Geef aan dat je dit jaar examen doet en je docent Engels wilt worden. Je spreekt goed Engels, maar je wilt het verbeteren.
3. Vertel over je passie voor pretparken en noem twee dingen waaruit je liefde blijkt. Geef aan dat je al ervaring hebt met het werken in een pretark (bedenk zelf wat je zoal gedaan hebt) en dat het je heel goed bevallen is. Vraag beleefd of je in het park zou kunnen werken.
4. Maak duidelijk dat je alles wilt aanpakken. Vraag naar de werktijden en ook hoeveel je eventueel kunt verdienen. Zeg dat je last hebt van hoogtevrees en vraag of ze hier rekening mee kunnen houden. Vertel dat je onderdak hebt gevonden bij je oom en tante, die niet ver van het park wonen.
5. Sluit de brie op passende wijze af.

I have a passion for amusement parks, every year I go to Disneyland and I am member of a special club. We design parks, once in a month we visit a park and we write reviews about the parks we visited. I already have experience with working in a amusement park. I have stand by the entrance to receive the entry tickets and I sold cotton candies. I really liked the work I did, and I wonder if I could work in your park during my summer holidays.

What are the working hours in your park? How much could I get paid? If I get a job in your park, would you consider with my fear of heights? I found a place to stay with my aunt and uncle. They live nearby your park, so that would not give any problems.

I am looking forward to hearing form you as soon as possible.

Hoe zit dat dan eigenlijk met dat 'Dutch'.
Moet ik dan zeggen: I am Netherlands?

ach ja :bloos: ik dacht aan I am Belgian, maar natuurlijk, als je Nederlander/-se bent...

Zo even op het eerste gezicht...

Wees gewaarschuwd:
1) Ik ben (bij lange na) niet perfect.
2) Ik heb de neiging om mieren te neuken waar geen mieren zijn. Niet alles wat ik zeg hoeft dus per sé hout te snijden. Gebruik je eigen kennis van het Engels (die trouwens behoorlijk is, als ik deze brief zo lees) bij het lezen.

We (de special club?) design parks, once in a month we visit a park (zou ik veranderen naar "we visit a park once a month") and we write reviews about the parks we visited (visit). I already have experience with working in a amusement park. (uitleg volgt, gebruik dus een dubbele punt) I have stand (moet 'have stood' zijn. Bovendien: zeg je dit zo?) by the entrance to receive the entry tickets and I sold (weer 'have' gebruiken: 'have sold') cotton candies (enkelvoud. Cotton candy is ontelbaar, net als suiker en geld). I really liked the work I did, (geen comma voor and, hier niet iig) and I wonder if I could work in your park during my summer holidays.

We krijgen er geen cijfer voor, is gewoon om te oefenen.

En een nieuwe brief:

1. leg uit hoe je aan het adres van deze camping komt. Vertel dat jullie nog nooit in Engeland zijn geweest maar daar wel graag eens naar toe zouden willen gaan. Je hebt gehoord dat het een heel mooi land is.
2. Vraag wat informatie over de camping. Je wilt weten hoe groot de camping is en of er ruime plaatsen voor caravans zijn. Je zegt dat jullie een vrij grote caravan hebben en dat jullie wel wat privacy willen hebben. Je wilt ook iets weten over de faciliteiten op de campin en daarom informeer je naar minstens 3 faciliteiten die jullie belangrijk vinden.
3. jullie willen graag de laatste 2 weken van juli 2005 komen. Vraag of jullie dan moeten reserveren. Vraag ook of er speciale prijzen zijn voor kinderen onder de 18.
4. Je hebt op de kaart van Engeland de camping opgezocht en gezien dat het dorp, Charlbury, vrij ver van de plaats Oxford ligt. Daarom wil je weten of er 's avonds iets te doen is in Charlbury, of misschien wel op de camping zelf. Leg uit dat je ouders meestal 's avonds in de caravan gaan zitten kaarten maar dat je broer en jij graag iets anders willen doen. Geef een voorbeeld.
5. Je hoopt snel antwoord te krijgen. Je bedankt voor de moeite en sluit de brief af.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I have found your address in the magazine ‘de Kampioen’ of this month. My family and I are
never been in England, but we would like to visit England because we have heard it’s a very
beautiful country. Could you send me some information about your camping? We would like
to know if it’s a large camping, because of the size of our caravan and we would like to have
some privacy. We also would like to know what kind of facilities there are at the camping.
For example, is there a camping shop, a swimming pool and a restaurant?

We would like to stay at the camping from the 18th of July till the 31st of July 2005. Do we
have to make a reservation? Are there special prizes for children beneath 18 years?

I have found the village Charlbury on a map of England, and the distance between Charlbury
and Oxford is pretty far. My mom and dad are spending the evenings in their caravan, but my
brother and I would like to go to the disco or play games with the other kids. So I was
wondering if the camping organizes special events for kids.

*are going to spend. (are spending, wijst op een regeling, vb als je al kaartjes hebt voor een vliegtuig, zeg je "I'm flying to Austria")

Hoe zeg je dan?
(zowel Engels als Nederlands)

Nederlands: een grote afstand / iets is ver weg (zelfde constructie als: hij weegt zwaar?)

Engels: Ik zou zelf iets maken in de richting van: it'is quite a big distance between ....and ... , of, ... is pretty far from ...
