Weet iemand hier iets over? In de bieb kan ik niets vinden en op internet staat ook zeer weinig. Nodig voor werkstuk:S

"A female chimp is ready to mate when she's about 13 years old. When a female is in estrus (in heat), she'll usually approach -- and mate with -- several males. Sometimes a high-ranking male will try to guard the female and prevent her from mating with other males.

The length of gestation (pregnancy) averages 230 days, or about 7 1/2 months. A baby chimp weighs about four pounds at birth"

menarche = begin van vruchtbaarheid

maar misschien is het zo dat chimansees vruchtbaar zijn als ze 9 zijn, en dan nog een paar jaar wachten voordat ze echt gaan paren. Dat doen mensen immers ook.

Overigens staan deze twee sites op de eerste twee pagina's van google als je zoekt naar 'pregnancy chimp', dus zo moeilijk is het niet te vinden.
