[HD] SCSI Firmware/Driver, welke precies?

Yo,

Omdat ik het nogal een bende vond worden op mijn pc heb ik besloten windows er even opnieuw op te zetten. Format C, alles weer schoon. :)

Zoals jullie zien gaat het om een SCSI harde schijf. En, hiervoor moeten speciale (net als bij SATA) drivers voor worden geinstalleerd voordat de Windows-installer zijn gang kan gaan.

Het gaat om een Dell Precision Workstation 650. Als ik het goed heb zit er een LSI Logic 1020/1030 SCSI-controller op het moederbord. Op de site van LSI vind ik wel een pagina vol met drivers en firmware, zie hier en hier .

Ik zie alleen door de bomen het bos niet meer. Dus nu mijn vraag, welke van die bestanden moet ik op een diskette om tijdens de voorbereiding van de Windows-installatie laden? :)

Ohja, het gaat hier om windows xp.

En drivers van cd installeren lijkt me nogal wiedes he. :rolleyes: Waarom zou ik dit topic hier neerzetten als ik een hele cd vol met drivers had?

je moet de ScsiPort 32-Bit driver. (symmpi) driver hebben.
in deze readme staat wat je op je je diskette moet zetten

2.1.1 CD-ROM Installation

"Windows Setup".

This must be done or else the new driver will not be recognized.

If F6 is not pressed, all devices controlled by the drivers are

3. Choose S to specify an additional device when the screen displays "Setup
was unable to load support for the mass storage device you specified...".

NOTE: If this screen is not displayed as the first user input, then
pressing the F6 key was not seen by the setup program. Reboot the
system and try again.

The system prompts for the manufacturer-supplied hardware support disk.

4. Insert the appropriate driver diskette containing the Windows XP
driver required to support your LSI Logic adapter(s) and press Enter.

NOTE: Current Windows XP drivers can be downloaded from the
LSI Logic web site at http://www.lsilogic.com/support. After you
are connected to this web site, click on "Downloads". Next, click on
"Download Center". Select the product category, then the appropriate
product. A bullet in the Drivers section will display all driver
packages associated with the product selection.

5. The screen will display a list of two drivers to select from:

"LSI Logic PCI SCSI/FC MPI Driver (XP 32-bit)"
"LSI Logic PCI SCSI/FC MPI Driver (XP 64-bit)"

Select the driver which matches the processor architecture of the system
(32-bit or 64-bit). Press Enter to proceed.

Return to the Windows XP Setup screen.

6. Press Enter to proceed.

The message about setup loading files appears.

Beetje offtopic, maargoed. Klein vraagje. Binnenkort ga ik een nieuwe pc kopen. Als ik dan die SCSI schijf icm dat ding (het is een scsi controller, toch?) in die nieuwe pc zet, zou dat dan veel snelheidswinst geven ten opzichte van een goede SATA-II schijf?
