Engelse sollicatiebrief nakijken
 

Ik moet dinsdag een duitse sollicatiebrief schrijven en daarom heb ik alvast geoefend met het schrijven van een sollicatatiebrief. Ik zou het fijn vinden als iemand hem voor mij zou kunnen nakijken/verbeteren. :)

Dear Mr. J. Baker,

On reference to an advertisement in the Independent the last 4th of January I like to apply for the job as shop-assistant at stationer’s W.H. Smith’s. I am very much interested for the job which is offered.

My name is (eigen naam), I am 17 years old. I am present in HGSE five and in may next year I will do my end examination. My teacher English showed me this advertisement, because I gladly wanted to work for two months in England. English is my best subject at school and I’m fluent in English. Yet I want to go to Londen to improve my speaking skills. I’m also interested for famous curiosities tourist.

This job is interesting for me, because I can meet all kinds of different people and help them and give them advise. I am suitable for this job, because I go well along with people and I’m not scared for brutal people. For the last 2 years I have worked in a department store, in the centrum on Saturday. I have even once caught a shoplifter and let him be arrested by the police.

I would like to give more information in a personally conversation. I am available from mid- June 2007 and I’m ready to come to londen if the travel expenses will be compensated

I hope to hear something soon.

*In het Engels is het gebruikelijk om de vaknaam voorop te zetten als je het over een leraar in een bepaald vak hebt. Denk er echter wel om dat "an English teacher" niet als "een Engelse leraar" vertaald dient te worden, omdat daarmee een leraar met de Engelse nationaliteit bedoeld wordt.:D*

*in een formele brief, dus ook in een sollicitatiebrief mogen nooit samentrekkingen als I'm en dergelijke worden gebruikt, in een informele brief mag dat wel*

*Deze zin is niet echt duidelijk. Wat bedoel je hier precies mee?:confused:

Wellicht ten overvloede: Pas even de topictitel en het begin van je openingspost aan , aangezien het hier om een sollicitatiebrief in het Engels in plaaats van in het Duits gaat...:D

'I go/get along well with people' klinkt in mijn oren beter, weet niet of het op jouw manier fout is hoor.

Ik neem aan dat er 'brutale mensen' bedoeld worden, maar brutaal vertaal je niet met 'brutal', wat volgens mij meer 'bruut' betekent. Mijn woordenboek vertaalt 'brutaal' als 'bold' of 'cool'.

To get along well with lijkt me eerlijk gezegd beter.

Brutal is in dit geval inderdaad niet de juiste vertaling. In dit geval zou ik bold als vertaling kiezen, omdat je bij cool in eerste instantie toch aan een ander soort vertaling zou denken.
