Last.fm beweert dan ook nergens dat de "similar artists" per se de artiesten zijn die er het meest op lijken.

ik denk dat het woordje 'similar' dat voor ze doet

"People who like this artist also often like:" neemt nu eenmaal meer ruimte in.

'koninklijke marechaussee' neemt ook meer ruimte in dan 'kwarkvla' :confused:

De "similar artists" worden niet handmatig bepaald door last.fm maar berekend aan de hand van een algoritme dat nagaat waar mensen die naar een bepaalde artiest luisteren nog meer naar luisteren. Vaak zijn dat ook artiesten die er op lijken, maar dat hoeft natuurlijk niet. Of dacht je dat last.fm had bepaald dat "Burzumennuz & Bastaerdschwaerd" het meest op mijn muziek lijkt?

Je hebt twee manieren om die similar artists te bepalen, ofwel door expertkennis, ofwel dmv statistiek. Statistiek is afhankelijk van (de wet van) grote getallen. Wel is het uiteraard sneller en goedkoper. Zelfde als Britannica <-> Wiki.
