It is easier to communicate with members of the same sex.

I would say that's not true. I've discovered that I find it easier to communicate with the other sex. I'm not sure why, but I think because I'm more interested in the other sex. That is, I already know enough about men and women are just more interesting than men, both physical and mental :).

Depends on the subject.
