Nieuwe SF actie film, beetje matrix meets minority report

Vind em erg lame eigenlijk.
Sommige scenes leken wel heel erg veel op.....

Maar goed, The Matrix lijkt ook op hongkong kung fu films qua vechtwerk, alles is wel al eens eerder gedaan als je het zo wil bekijken. Als dit een goede actie film word met een verhaal wat niet te debiel voor woorden is, dan ga ik er best heen.

het verhaal is trouwens gebasseerd op dat van Fahrenheit 451:


Based on the 1951 Ray Bradbury novel of the same name. Guy Montag is a firefighter who lives in a lonely, isolated society where books have been outlawed by a government fearing an independent-thinking public. It is the duty of firefighters to burn any books on sight or said collections that have been reported by informants. People in this society including Montag's wife are drugged into compliancy and get their information from wall-length television screens. After Montag falls in love with book-hoarding Clarisse, he begins to read confiscated books. It is through this relationship that he begins to question the government's motives behind book-burning. Montag is soon found out, and he must decide whether to return to his job or run away knowing full well the consequences that he could face if captured.

Het lijkt me wel wat.
Het is eng gestilleerd en wel degelijk anders dan de Matrix (tenminste de 1ste Matrix)
Verder leek het me een beetje 'A Brave new World' annex "1984' achtig... wat me opzich ook zeer boeiend lijkt.

Ik ben wel benieuwd gemaakt door de trailer in ieder geval.

This a refreshingly smart and robust film with some of the coolest action scenes you will ever see. No kidding, and what makes this film even more special is the lack of wires, bullet time, or any other tired recent action trends. Instead, like the best films from the East it's all about physical performance, timing, editing, and inventive use of the frame. When it boils down, that has so much more weight than high end special FX techniques.

The film people are going to compare this movie to first and foremost will be The Matrix, because it's fresh on the mind and also featured some of the same themes and some showstopping action scenes.

Like some of the stories mentioned earlier, Equilibrium looks at our potential future (and if you find some of this stuff far fetched read the news a little more, if you can stomach it) with a bit of cynicism. In Brave New World, Aldous Huxley dealt with drugs helping keep the world moving and the ideas of totalitarianism. In 1984 there was an underground network (The Brotherhood) who offered an escape from the oppressive "Big Brother". Fahrenheit 451 featured the fear of art and ideas and knowledge. All those stories had themes consistent with this film, but they don't feel cribbed here. This isn't a dumbed down receptacle for those ideas. It's a vessel to take those ideas and blend them with many more and present in the guise of a science fiction film that'd to appeal to... yes, fans of films like The Matrix.

As much as I love The Matrix, I think this film deserves a little more credit than being considered a story in the same vein. It's a less showy, more cerebral film.

We're always shoehorned into summing films up by using other films as references, and more often than not it's unfair to the film we're trying to describe. All films (well, except maybe for Being John Malkovich and The Dark Backward) are amalgams of whatever inspired its author. Star Wars drew upon the work of Kurosawa, E.E. "Doc" Smith, and others while Spielberg gained inspiration from David Lean. It's a circle, and Equilibrium is no exception. You can feel the roots of some of the classic science fiction stories making up the foundation of this film, but Kurt Wimmer's movie does something few films achieve, let alone aspire to.

It shows us stuff we've never seen before.

There are a few moments in this film that are going to have you almost shuddering with the coolness you just saw. Those will start the love affair, but your relationship with Equilibrium will truly be consummated on the second or third viewing when you realize that somehow a film squeezed through the system with its brain AND its dual automatic pistols intact.

slecht news, film is vandaag uitgekomen op ongeveer 300 schermen.....das heel weinig voor in de USA, terwijl deze film toch veel lovende reviews heeft gekregen :(

dimension films kan gewoon geen films uitbrengen, kijk maar naar Below

Dat zegt niets. Als de film genoeg bezoekersaantallen krijgt en per scherm een aardige opbrengst weet binnen te halen, zal het aantal schermen ongetwijfeld vergroten.

Een film met betere promotie en in het begin meer schermen zal het altijd beter doen. Weliswaar zal het aantal schermen vergroten, maar dan alleen door word of mouth. Zonder enige goede promotie zal het algemene publiek niet aangetrokken worden.

Uiteraard. Maar dit kan wel aftastend zijn. Word of mouth is goud waard. Maar waarom is het slecht nieuws?

uuh ik ken wel een hip hop groep die equilibrium heet, en die hebben ook een nummer dat 'Fahrenheit 451' heet :confused: ....

Best wel absurd eigenlijk dat iedereen zo positief denkt over de film want hij is finaal afgekraakt door de critici in Amerika. Niet dat dat heel erg veel zegt, maar het is wel opvallend als je bedenkt dat de internetbuzz overwegend positief is over deze film.

Slechts 19% is positief.

ALS de winst in de USA tegenvalt, dan is er weinig kans dat de film ook hierheen komt. Ook met betrekking tot DVD releases etc etc

Zie wel goede matte paintings, voor de rest zijn t niet allemaal B-actuers? :D

Import, Import! En die film krijgt hier zekers wel een DVD en VIDEO release hoor.

Er zijn (veel) betere films die hier nauwelijks tot niet een release krijgen - dus zo'n rampt is dat niet. Daarnaast zijn er films met meevallende winstresultaten die hier niet of heel klein worden uitgebracht. Die film komt hier wel in een aantal grote bioscopen terecht.

Het hangt ervan af wat de distributeur voor plannen heeft in Nederland - en die plannen worden soms niet eens zozeer door de opbrengst beslist.

Is dit de A-B-C acteurniveau qua salaris of qua film?
