ik zat vandaag iets te lezen over de band Slowdive, omdat ik wat nummers van hun album "Souvlaki" aan het downloaden was. toen las ik dat hun genre "Shoegazer" genoemd wordt. dus ik dacht, daar ga ik eens wat meer over opzoeken. toen vond ik dit :

Bands that followed -- most notably Ride, Lush, Chapterhouse, and the Boo Radleys -- added their own stylistic flourishes. Ride veered close to '60s psychedelia, while Lush alternated between straight pop and the dream-pop of the Cocteau Twins."

wie is er bekend met dit genre en wat is je mening erover?

Nooit van gehoord. Het klinkt als een schoenenmerk.

Voor mij is dat gewoon een vrij bekend genre en ik ken en waardeer dan ook de meeste bands die in dat stukje opgenoemd worden. Er bestaat trouwens ook een wat rustigere en dromerige variant van: slowcore (ook wel: sadcore, dream pop of ambient pop genoemd). Voorbeelden hiervan zijn o.m. Low, Codeine en Smog. Stuk voor stuk serieuze, melancholieke en hypnotiserende muziek.

Hoi, op Fok! was een beter topic over shoegazerbands dus ik ben wel geinteresseerd geraakt.

Als de manier waarop je op het podium staat je genre al bepaald, dan is het einde zoek. Maar ff binnen het 'genre' slowdive en low (y)

zeker goeie band, heb er paar albums van. Maar ik (als ik dan toch hokjes gebruik) zou hun niet in dat hokje plaatsen. Vind hun meer iets zoals death cab for cutie.

mwoah ik vind dat het wel kan. het is indierock en ze gebruiken veel pedaaltjes :D. ik weet dat het niet een volkomen shoegazerband is maar ze komen dan ook niet uit die scene. echte shoegazerbands kwamen vooral toch begin jaren 90 uit schotland en built to spill is amerikaans en ze hebben zelfs een hele tijd bij warner gezeten. toch vind ik dat ik ze best in het hokje mag stoppen

misschien moet je het hokje dan eigenlijk wat groter nemen en het noise-pop noemen.
