New Sony Console Revealed
 

At a media briefing in Tokyo earlier today, Sony announced that it will release a new game console named PSX in Japan before the end of the year. Scheduled for release in North America and Europe sometime in 2004, the sleek-looking PSX console is essentially a redesigned PlayStation 2--albeit with plenty of additional features.

With the exception of the console's 120GB hard drive and built-in Ethernet support, the PSX console's new features won't offer any benefits as far as gaming is concerned, but--thanks to the inclusion of a TV and broadcast satellite tuner and a DVD recorder--it will instead transform the PlayStation 2 into a set-top box capable of delivering online play, music, and movies straight out of the box.

When playing games, you'll plug your controllers into the rear of the PSX console, where the hard drive and Sony Memory Stick compatibility have clearly rendered the standard PS2 memory cards obsolete. No pricing information for the PSX has been announced at this time, but the box will be marketed as a high-end electronics product rather than as a game console and, as such, will be handled by Sony's Home Electronics Division as opposed to Sony Computer Entertainment.

Pfff, die lui maken gewoon een X-box2. Alleen hebben zij heel wat meer kruisjes...

EDIT: ik had ook iets gehoord van dat je er gebrande vd´s en dvd´s op zou kunnen draaien(ik bedoel dus films en muziek).

Zal dan wel niet moeilijk zijn om er ook games op te draaien...

Naar mijn idee zitten ook de aansluitingen voor de controllers aan de achterkant. Als dat echt zo is, is dat wel een beetje irritant :)

Waarom? Als die dingen er eenmaal inzitten boeit het toch niet meer.

ziet er zeker vet uit, maar het gaat zeker duur worden met al die extras erin. Waarom noemen ze het een psx als het eigenlijk een ps2 is? Zorgt alleen voor vewarring als je het mij vraagt.
En wat ik niet begrijp is dat de controller porten achterop zitten terwijl je hem ook rechtop kan zetten, dat zou dus betekenen dat je geen controllers kan gebruiken als hij rechtop staat.

p.s. weet iemand toevallig of er een losse harde schijf te koop is voor de normale ps2?

Ik vind hem dus lelijk, en het hoeft voor mij allemaal niet, branden doe ik maar op mijn PC, online spelen ook..
Domme naam, de PSX is al voorbij, ik denk eigenlijk dat het een hoax is..

geen benefits voor gaming??

ik kan me zo geen reden bedenken hem dan nog te kopen. behalve als ik geen tv, geen goede geluidsinstallatie, geen dvdspeler, geen computer om gefikte zut af te spelen en geen memmorycards had, als ik een grote behoefte had het ding van de tafel te rukken omdat de draadjes - die nu achterinzitten - toch al kort zijn, als ik wit een mooie kleur vond, als sony goede spellen uitbracht, en nintendo niet bestaan had.

dan had ie een kans gemaakt...

hoe pomp je de ene consol uit na de andere..
bah houd het wel gewoon bij mijn lieve pctje!
