Dear Parmjit,

I read you letter, it's a pitty your friends bully you at school. These things like making jokes about your origin exists everywhere, also in Holland. Some people get bullied because they have another culture, skin colour or their apparel is different from the casual.
The real problem is that you have to stand up for yourself, which you don't, even if you think that your friends don't mean to be nasty to you.
If they are your true friends you can say everything to them, without they're thinking your to serious or that you don't like them.
Eatherway you should try it and if you don't know what to do, try asking the other Asians what they do when they get bullied.

Kind regards,

Kelvin Mitchell

alvast bedankt!

Dear Parmjit,

I read your letter. I think it isa pity your friends bully you at school. These things, like making jokes about your origin, exist everywhere, in Holland as well. Some people get bullied because they have another cultural background, skin colour or because their apparel is different from the casual.
The real problem is that you have to stand up for yourself, which you don't, even if you think that your friends don't mean to be nasty to you.
If they are your true friends you can say everything to them, without them thinking you're too serious or that you don't like them.

Eatherway (wat bedoel je ? "Anyway" = nou ja..., of "either way": beide mogelijkheden... )

Anyway, you should try it and if you don't know what to do, try asking other Asians what they do when they get bullied.

Kind regards,

Kelvin Mitchell

they have another cultural background klopt ideomatisch niet, je kan wel zeggen dat ze van een andere achtergrond zijn
they're from an other culture...
(cultural background is dubbelop)
