TIP: Farside - The Monroe Doctrine
 

Vind het toch jammer dat zo weinig mensen deze band/cd kennen.

Aziz(Nra,Outlet) gaf me een paar emo cd tips waar deze cd dus bij zat.

Het bijzondere van deze cd is dat het diverse stijlen bevat.
Dus niet in 1 nummer diverse stijlen maar over de hele cd.

Begint met punkrock/indie/emo, uit het niets brute hardcore en op het eind wordt het akoustisch. Coole is ook dat de band toch een eigen stijl herkenbare stijl heeft.

Cd is uitgebracht op Revelation Records.

Farside's third album The Monroe Doctrine features 17 eclectic, punk-tinged tracks. Straight-ahead rockers like the opening track "Better Than Crying" mix with power pop, ballads, and grindcore for the group's most varied and accomplished work. The album also includes "Moral Straightjacket," "The Lonesome Ballad of El Bobo the Cranky," and "Liz Hurley." Though punk is still their touchstone, Farside's expanding musical reach is admirable.

With the success of their first two full-length releases, Rochambeau and Rigged, as well as their most recent self-titled ep, Farside continues their tradition of talented song-writing with The Monroe Doctrine. Their diverse mixture of punk, post-punk, indie rock and pop melodies is certainly a progression for the band, but it definitely still sounds like Farside. "It's absolutely the best record we've ever done," says vocalist/guitarist Popeye. "If anything, we've gotten more vague." The varied styles and sounds that are spread throughout The Monroe Doctrine's 17 tracks include straight-ahead punk, heavy noise-pop, syrupy emo ballads, power-pop and even a gindcore song. The history of Farside has proven to be one of the noteworthiness and respectability, and The Monroe Doctrine is their newest ad most commanding chapter.

The Monroe Doctrine is toch hun meest 'vreemde' werk. Het klinkt nog wel als farside, maar toch een kleine verandering van richting gehad...

Harbour gaat steeds meer sucken hoor ik wel. Emo invloeden etc. :D

Over een jaar dragen jullie allemaal sjaaltjes, hebben lang haar en snuiven een lijntje voor jullie opgaan.

latere bold werk vind ik ook geen emo hoor (nou ja vooruit eerder rock dan hardcore ;))

maar voor de farside liefhebbers zou ik zeker 'bold - looking back' uitchecken!
