Bloc Party is an autonomous unit of un-extraordinary kids reared on pop culture between the years of 1976 and the present day. Like many such kids, between them they eventually concluded that their own attempts to imitate what had informed them could be construed as a worthy variation on the many forms that preceded. They do everything that's required to conform to the currently received ideas of what a band is: ostensibly to play instruments at the same time, but also have a title for the work created.

Kele picked up a guitar when his hands enabled him to do so and his brain gave him the inclination. Russell had already done as much beforehand when they met in 1998. In the fine print of music papers and in telephone conversations they enabled meetings with Gordon and Matt who also had ideas of some relevance to bring to the collective effort. In this sense a band was created.

Henceforth should follow a list of auteurs and musicians that figured in the formative minds of the four as they went about their work. But to do as much seems churlish in an already self-referential world. Suffice to say there would be no band without the efforts of guitar bands formed in British and American towns in the 70s, 80s and 90s, aswell as visionary writers and artists of various kinds whose work has informed the world and culture itself as it stands. The precise names are as good as any you can come up with, in fact probably much, much better.

ik vind ze geweldig , heb ze op pukkelpop gezien en meteen maar de e.p gekocht. zeer zeker een vette band

ik kende het al maar kweet niet wat ik van moet denken

Gezien op Pukkelpop. Klonk meer dan ok. Ik ken eigenlijk enkel Banquet (wat ik wel super vind eigenlijk). Jammer dat ze in België Interpol niet supporten want ik had ze graag nog eens gezien.

Lijkt het op elkaar? Dan ga ik wel 'ns ff zoeken. Of was het gewoon een loze opmerking :D

Bloc party is inderdaad geweldig wordt al maanden veel op studio brussel gedraaid!!!

99% van de 'the' bandjes die ik luister komen uit eind jaren 70 begin 80, slimmeke. en nee, het lijkt niet op bloc party want dan zou ik het niet pimpen natuurlijk.

heb Banquet zeer veel gedraaid de afgelopen zomer, verder zijn de nummers nogal onderling inwisselbaar, ook gezien op Pukkelpop (stoere zanger)

Das een Jonny Greenwood kloon, zelfde bewegingen, zelfde stijl qua gitaarspel. Maarja als je dat goed kan kopieren, dan ben je goed (y)

hmm sommige nummers springen er echt uit, andere nummers vind ik weer saai. In Paradiso waren ze wel oke, als voorprogramma. (y)

Ik vind hem nou niet bepaald op Johnny lijken qua bewegingen eigenlijk.

Althans, op dat filmpje stond hij vooral stil.

mja maar ik oordeel op de show bij Interpol. Daar vond ik dat er toch wel grote gelijkenissen tussen zaten

Allerhande artiesten staan dan in zo'n cirkel in de studio en spelen dan omstebeurt en af en toe stelt die gast ze een paar vragen.
Ik vind het echt een cool programma vooral omdat ze elke weer zowat leuke bandjes en aparte artiesten hebben. :cool:

ik vind compliments anders een heel mooi nummer eigenlijk.

ik vind hem maar saai. Vooral op zo'n album als dit
