![]() Sunday March 19 Damage 5 Euro Time 16 h Podiumcafé the Legend Marktstr. 29, Sneek VITAMIN X, REMAIN, SHARP END, ON FIRE, DIPSOMANIA It's March already and the weather still sucks... but that means also that it was about time for a new hardcore/punk matinee in Sneek to get you out of your winter depression or to thrash that hangover out of your head. Dipsomania is a band from Leeuwarden (The Netherlands) that plays some noise that could be described as thrashpunkrock&roll. The band features Sexy Lex on guitar and to prove his sexibility he teamed up with 3 females to form Dipsomania. The result is a punkband that could be described as a raw version of Vice Squad and is a nice refreshment in a male dominated punkrock world. Website: - Listen to: - On Fire is a hardcore-band based in the south of The Netherlands, known for their energetic and enthusiastic stage performances! They have already played over 200 shows all over the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and the Czech Republic. This were shows with bands like Shutdown, Roger Miret & The Disasters, Murphy's Law, Slapshot, NJ Bloodline, Backfire!, No Turning Back, Reaching Forward to name a few... On Fire is capable of turning the place they performe into a frenzy. They've got no attitude and 'play your ass off' seems to be their motto. On Fire's music can be described as powerful old school-hardcore to which they give their own rocking twist. With their two guitar players and their double vocals they truly create a sound of their own. A sound in which hardcore plays the key role, and punkrock- and heavy metal- influences are present to give it a more melodic touch. In March also their new full length called Truckstop Armageddon will be released through The Shield Records, so in the Legend you can already check out how their new songs sound on stage. Website: http://www.setitonfire.net Listen to: The James Dean Hardcore Theme Sharp End started in August 2000 and is hailing from the east of the Netherlands. Due to some lineup changes the band didn't get out much, but in 2005 finally 4 songs were recorded for a demo. Also the band started playing more shows and now it's time for their first show in Friesland. Musically the band is hard to compare to others, since they mix alot of styles together... on some parts Sharp End reminds of furious hardcore/punk bands like Poison Idea, but they easily twist that into a ska-tune. According to the band they don't want to be labeled, they just play whatever they like. Website: http://www.sharp-end.tk Listen to: Good Life Remain is coming out of Friesland, The Netherlands and they've been playing many shows overhere, but also in other parts of The Netherlands and outside! This means the band has really developed themselves as an awesome liveband. M embers of Remain started jamming together as a five-piece from 2003 on, with Right Brigade, Integrity, Floorpunch, Chorus of Disapproval and Judge being their main influences. A demo was released late 2003 and since they were from the same area and knew eachother for quite some years already, Not Just Words Records showed interest in doing a 7". Thus plans were made for an official release, but due to some changes in bandmembers and bandname, the release was postponed until summer 2005. Shortly after the release of the demo, Henk (ex-Spirit 84, ex-DSS) had replaced one of the original guitarplayers and later the vocalist, giving the band a more solid foundation on both the songstructure as well as the vocals. In the meantime, Light The Fuse Records had also showed interest and parties decided that the best would be to join forces. This resulted in an 8 song debut 7", called 'As Sharp As Knives' showing what they do best... playing solid, honest, pissed off and anger fueled hardcore. Website: http://www.remainhardcore.com Listen to: Too Blind To See Vitamin X is a Straight Edge Hardcore band from Amsterdam Holland. Their earlier material is more in the Youth Crew tradition of Youth of Today, Bold and Chain of Strength. But over time Vitamin X's sound has progressed to a faster more intense sort of hardcore that could be compared to DS 13, Lifes Halt or Tear It Up. Vitamin X has very well thought out political lyrics which defy some of the wack stuff going on in SEHC today. Indeed bands like Vitamin X are re claiming SEHC for what it really is, a branch of hardcore punk rock and not some sort of mainstream metal music. Vitamin X already put out 3 7"s and 2 lp's and just released a new 7" on Havoc Records which takes their tried and true thrash sound to the next level. Building on the direction they were headed with the Bad Trip LP this 7" mixes full on thrash with some wild 70's rock riffs and leads. Besides that the band has done tours allover the world... the USA, Southern America, Asia... the band has probably played every shithole on this planet, but it's been a really, really long time since the band played in Friesland. So we thought it was about time, because these guys absolutely rage live and can turn even the smallest show into a devastating thrash zone.
