I want to tell something about something very special I’m going to do this summer. I am a member of the club ‘Young Passion’ and with these 10 people I’m going to Thailand this summer to do voluntary work. First I will tell something about Young Passion.
The Youngpassionclub is founded in 2003, and is a private enterprise of two people. It is aimed at young passionate people between 15 and 17 years old. These children all have a huge passion for something. The opinion of the two people that founded Young Passion is that if these children seriously carry out this passion, they indirectly will be an example for the society. They show that they are able to achieve something that they really want, and that they are able to make sacrifices for something they really want to achieve. These two people also think that these characteristics are very useful in they’re continuation course. (to be able to fully go for something they want). An extra impulse is according to them very useful.
That is why they every year sponsor two young people to professionalise they’re passion. These two people make the’re own Youngpassionplan for one year. During this project they get 1250 euro at they’re disposal. We now have 10 members and the passions of these members are: Dancing, horse riding, tennis, waterpolo, soccer, basketball, skating, poetry, playing guitare, and singing.

The last passion is mine. 2 Years ago I made my Youngpassionplan. My plan was to write a few songs and at the end of the year record them on cd. This is exactly what I did. The’re 3 songs on my CD written by me and my oncle. He plays guitare and the wrote the extra accompaniment. I wrote the music and lyrics and I sing, and play the guitare on the recordings. That year was very important to me. I learned a lot from everything I had to arrange for the recordings and my songs. This was a unique experience.

In 2007 Young Passion exists 5 years and we now have 10 members. In this year we wanted to do a social contribution (offering?). We decided to do this in Thailand.
When we arrive in Thailand we will be having a warm welcome from Savodaya. That is the organisation of volentarywork in Thailand. Soon after that we will go to the village were we will stay for two weeks. There we will meet 10 children who live in the area and were we will spend most of our time with.
To make this exchange pass well we made a special program for the people in Thailand aimed at sports and culture. All our passions will play a part in this program. I am going to give singinglessons for example. We are planning to organise a big ‘Passionday’ were all our passions come together. This will be the highlight of our exchange.
Further we’re going to help the local population by building a school, a local government office, or a library.
All members of the Youngpassionclub will stay at a host family. The accommodations at the host families are very simple and primitive but also heart-warming. During the project the villagers will take us to the fields were they work, and show us the conditions were they live in.
We expect many things from this exchange: mutual understanding for differences, having fun by working together, knowledge of Buddhism, experience that in difficult circumstances it is also possible to achieve something, understanding in social circumstances of other societies in the world.
When we come back, we are going to give lessons to other young people about our experiences in Thailand. With these lessons we want to confront and interest other young people in the Netherlands for voluntary work.

Alvast heeel erg bedankt!

Het kan vast nog wel beter, maar ik daarvoor heb ik momenteel geen energie
