WORM – IFFR 2009:
http://www.filmfestivalrotterdam.com...2009/live.aspx WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 28: WORM@IFFR: - BLECTUM FROM BLECHDOM (us) - MAGA BO & MC Bnegão (br) WORM@IFFR - Lantaren/Venster, Gouvernestraat 133, Rotterdam Lantaren 1 start: 22:30 entrance: 9 euro http://agenda.wormweb.nl/agenda.php?id=2314 BLECTUM FROM BLECHDOM (us) Blectum from Blechdom is an experimental electronic music duo, formed in 1998 by Kristin Erickson (Kevin Blechdom) and Bevin Kelley (Blevin Blectum) The duo temporarily broke up in 2001, with both artists retaining their noms de plume to continue working on solo projects. Blectum From Blechdom's current live show includes computer music, song, dance and an interactive video extravaganza. The psycho-cyber duo fracture, clatterbox and digitally escapade their clumsy slap-dash perfection through semi-improvised mythological narratives. BFB control their own real-time software made in Jitter with the audio and MIDI data generated by the simultaneous and spontaneous live musical soundtrack. Expect unearthly sounds and heartfelt singing from a cartoonesque performance in hypercolor. MAGA BO (br) + MC BNEGÃO (br) Maga Bo is a DJ/producer working with an international collision of styles, sounds, location recordings from all continents and beats that have yet to be classified. A study in the digital contortions of hip hop, ragga, breakbeat and jungle, his sound is a divine mashup of batucada, rai, bhangra, and skewed electronic beats in a borderless conundrum of gritty street sounds, found and modified rhythms and melodies from Brazil, Morocco, Senegal, India and beyond. http://www.shplargh.com http://www.myspace.com/blectumfromblechdom http://www.magabo.com http://www.myspace.com/magabo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Ck769cOsaY ![]() ![]() FRIDAY, JANUARY 30: WORM@IFFR: - GANGPOL UND MIT (fr) - ARGENTINE HOME-MOVIE CAVALCADE w/ ALAN COURTIS (ar) WORM@IFFR - Lantaren/Venster, Gouvernestraat 133, Rotterdam Lantaren 1 start: 22:30 entrance: 9 euro http://agenda.wormweb.nl/agenda.php?id=2332 ARGENTINE HOME-MOVIE CAVALCADE with Live performance by ALAN COURTIS (ar) Argentina, 2008 Colour, video, 52 min. Selection: Sergio Subero, Sergio Brauer Ed = Sergio Subero & Sergio Brauer Compilation of Argentine Super8 Home-Movies from the 70’s and 80’s. It shows diverse aspects of daily city life and views of the countryside. This eye-cavalcade portrays the Argentinian collective memory from those years and is presented with a live music performance based on experimental drone, psychedelic and abstract noise by Alan Courtis. Guitarist and improviser extraordinaire Alan Courtis (Buenos Aires, 1972) is not only a figurehead within the Argentinian underground scene, but also often appears in the international spotlights. His CV shows endless summaries of releases and collaborations with a.o. Lee Ranaldo, Damo Suzuki or Francisco Lopez. Courtis was the co-founder of the sadly defunct REYNOLS, maybe the finest example of true outsider-music in recent years. Courtis studied classical guitar, piano and composition but first and foremost excells as an electro-acoustic improvisor. GANGPOL UND MIT (fr) Perfect blend of exhilirating electronic music and imaginative visuals. Duo Gangpol und Mit create a deviant cartoonesque world inhabited by colourful and geometrical creatures - a bestiary taking part in apocalyptic storytelling. Musically, fine melodies crush and rebuild various styles and sound sources that are dug out from a huge digital sandbox... http://www.geocities.com/a_courtis http://gangpol.free.fr/ http://www.myspace.com/gangpolundmit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ek94gwpIRWs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_QsgDi1cC4 ![]() ![]() ![]() SATURDAY, JANUARY 31: WORM@IFFR: - ÆTHENOR (uk/ch/us/no) - BRENT COUGHENOUR WORM – Achterhaven 148, Rotterdam start: 21:00h entrance: 9 euro http://agenda.wormweb.nl/agenda.php?id=2362 ÆTHENOR (uk/ch/us/no) Daniel O'Sullivan (GUAPO) Vincent de Roguin (SHORA) Stephen O'Malley (SUNN O))) Krystoffer Ryg (ULVER) Steve Noble With the use of layered organic textures and source manipulation, Æthenor conjure a harrowing suite of astral soundscapes. They summon the most somnolent examples of Bernard Parmegiani, Organum, Nurse with Wound, Klaus Schulze, Coil and Iancu Dumitrescu. Acousmatic drones ebb and flow into crackling and bubbling sonic clusters. Lulling piano motifs and lamenting chants shimmer into distant lunar horizons while oscillators spin and drove serenely into unchartered audial regions. http://www.aethenor.com http://www.myspace.com/aethenor ![]() ![]() |
