ik heb een vraag of het volgend antwoord goed is.

De tekst is: Despite watching countless news bulletins, I remained blissfully ignorant of the history, context and politics of the Vietnam war. I therefore have great sympathy with those who have argued within news organisations that television news needs to become more 'accessible'. Critics are wary of this term, accessibility fearing a dumbeddown, unthinking approach to news which panders to the ignorance and laziness of the viewer. The argument goes that avoiding complex words or making few assumptions about viewers' background knowledge compounds the growing problem of an information McNugget society, in which everything has to be fed to the masses in bite sized chunks. Why not make people work a little harder for their news?

Wie vraagt de vraag "Why not make people work a little harder for their news?", ik geloof dat het de schrijver van het stuk zelf het vraagt en niet de critici. Of heb ik ongelijk?

Ik denk de critici, want de schrijver zegt in het begin dat hij vindt dat news meer 'accessible' moet worden. Critici zijn dan bang voor een 'dumbeddown, unthinking approach to news' en vinden dat mensen best wat meer moeite mogen steken in het begrijpen ervan, dus stellen ze de vraag 'Why not make people work a little harder for their news?'. De schrijver was juist voor makkelijker nieuws, dus ja, ik neem aan dat hij zich die vraag niet stelt, maar de critici.

De critici vinden dat mensen maar iets harder moeten werken voor hun nieuws i.p.v. dat zij een gestripte, makkelijke en toegankelijk versie voorgeschoteld krijgen. Ik snap de mogelijk andere interpretatie maar deze is wel echt de meest waarschijnlijke.
