Ode to Flyon Bob. A dear 4 legged friend.
Empty
No other way to describe my heart
Confusion, despair, panic, shock
They all took over for a while
I found you there
Lifeless, like a fallen leaf
That afternoon, the first of the month
Why did it have to be you
Your body
Stiff as a board
Motionless outside the fence
So restless
Your eyes
Expressionless, shallow
Darker than ever
So cold
When I found you
Tried to keep my head clear
The hardest thing in my life
Trying to stay calm
So young, beautiful
Finally coming to
What happened we don’t know
But why did it have to happen to you
The past year you’ve changed
You became happier with your life
You found the peace you needed
Showed us so much love
The new you was born
That’s when I really got to know you
Delivered a beautiful baby girl
Who is now an orphan
You were always cheerful
Exceptionally playful too
Often mistaken for a bad mood
But that didn’t exist with you
Could someone please tell me
Why nature had descided
To take you away from us
Why you needed to go
Sometimes I wish
It were me instead
I know I shouldn’t
And I’ll be strong
I’ll always remember you
Exactly the way you were
Even though you went someplace else
You’ll always be in my heart
Rest in peace: Flyon Bob, Quarter Horse mare, 1994-2001. One of the finest horses I’ve taken care of and worked with. I’ll always love you, where ever you are now, I’ll see you again I’m sure.
