The invention of the steam engine was the beginning of the Industrial Revolution. The Industrial Revolution was a period of large changes. These changes were caused by the start of the industry.
*worden door moet hier worden vertaald door middel van een constructie met de lijdende vorm*
What previously had to be done by hand, draught animals, watermills and windmills, was now feasible it with driven machines. Because of the Industrial Revolution, small towns became large cities, the first railroads were constructed and there came better connections between different cities.
Without the Industrial Revolution, the industry would never had come so far yet. If the Industrial Revolution had never happened, the most important means of existence would probably have been agriculture. We probably would all have been a little more developed than in 1700, but there would have been no computers and machines now yet. In the time of the Industrial Revolution there was much experimented with machines. They began with simple machines that still had to be driven by man.
Secondly thanks to the Industrial Revolution it became possible that we can go to school now. Before the Industrial Revolution, children had to work a lot on the countryside, so there existed in such a way child labour then. The whole family had to work, for otherwise they had no food. Because of the arrival of the steam engine, people got more time and they got the chance to go to school.
Also there was no longer so many work in the factories because many masses were produced at the same time, and that thanks to the machines. Thereforemany products as for instance cotton clothing became cheaper. Because of the lower expenses, the cargo transportation also became always cheaper. The transportation also went more fast, fresh food could cheaper be brought to the city now. The arrival of the railroads promoted the growth of businesses and the industrialised country became more prosperous and economically more strong.
The Industrial Revolution was a progress. It is true that the Industrial Revolution also had some disadvantageous consequences, but there are really more positive consequences. Thanks to the Industrial Revolution technology and science are advanced. There much useful inventions have been done and man gained more knowledge. Without all that knowledge, we would not have been so far now yet. Thanks to the arrival of the steam engine and after that the arrival of the period of the Industrial Revolution we have come quite a bit further and we now still profit of that.
