The Distributed Folding Project (DFP) is a distributed computing approach to study protein folding. Using protein folding algorithms, billions of protein structures are generated and assigned an energy score. The structure with the best score is predicted as the structure most likely to occur in nature. The DFP has served as an ideal platform to test new protein folding algorithms and to improve existing algorithms.

The project works because thousands of generous people donate their unused computer resources to advance science.

You can participate in this project by downloading our interactive folding screensaver. The DFP screensaver is a 3D viewer that lets you see the progress of your protein folding. Using your mouse, you can rotate or zoom the image of your protein at any time.

Hehe, Folding@Home. Sinds wanneer is dat actualiteit? Tis leuk om eraan mee te doen natuurlijk, maar ik hou het na RC5-64 even voor gezien (mooh )

Leuk. IBM deed ook mee met een of ander project. Het enige wat je hoefde te doen was een screensaver installleren en terwijl de screensaver bezig was, hielp je computer mee dingen uit te rekenen die dan weer doorgestuurd werden. t was voor small pox.
