In het GBR stond overigens ook een foto van de korste man ooit: hij was niet veel groter dan een normale anderhalve liter fles.

Deze info stond btw een jaar of wat geleden ook op de stokjes van die perenijsjes, was wel grappig. Als Wadlow nog een jaar had doorgeleeft was hij nog twee centimeter langer geworden. De langste vrouw was als het goed is 'maar' 2 meter 36 (zo ongeveer).

Heaviest Man
The heaviest person in medical history was Jon Brower Minnoch (USA, 1941–83), who had suffered from obesity since childhood. He was 185 cm (6 ft 1 in) tall and weighed 178 kg (28 st) in 1963, 317 kg (50 st) in 1966 and 442 kg (69 st 9 lb) in September 1976.
In March 1978, Minnoch was admitted to University Hospital, Seattle, where consultant endocrinologist Dr. Robert Schwartz calculated that Minnoch must have weighed more than 635 kg (100 st), a great deal of which was water accumulation due to his congestive heart failure.

In order to get Minnoch to University Hospital, it took a dozen firemen and an improvized stretcher to move him from his home to a ferry-boat. When he arrived at the hospital, saturated with fluid and suffering from heart and respiratory failure, he was put in two beds lashed together. It took 13 people just to roll him over.

After nearly two years on a diet of 1,200 calories per day, he was discharged at 216 kg (34 st) – the greatest weight loss for a human being. In October 1981, though, he had to be readmitted – after putting on over 89 kg (34 st). When he died on September 10, 1983, he weighed more than 362 kg (57 st).

British chauffeur Stephen Taylor has a tongue that measures a gob-smacking 9.4 cm (3.7 in) from the tip to the center of his closed top lip. King Tongue Steve's lengthy licker beat the previous record, held by fellow Brit Mark Leonard and his 9-cm (3.54-in) tongue, by less than half a centimeter. Not only can he touch his nose with his tongue – he can drive it right up his nostril! The titanic tongue is often mistaken for a fake, but was officially measured up at the Westwood Medical Center in Coventry, England, and confirmed as a record breaker.

Cat With The Most Toes
A five-year-old rescue cat named Jake has clawed his way into the Guinness World Record book as the moggy with most toes. Jake, an orange tabby from Bonfield, Ontario, Canada, has seven toes – complete with claws and pads – on each paw, and beats the previous record holder, Mickey the tabby cat from Deep River, New York, USA, who has 27 toes.

Jake is owned by Michelle and Paul Contant and their two children Renee and Kyle. "We got him from the North Bay and District Humane Society," said Michelle. "He's just a great cat. We knew he was special, so we had him examined." Local vet Dr T. D. Bachelder, DVM, performed the check up and confirmed that Jake has "complete and distinct toes with normal nails, foot pads and bone structure."

Rabbit With Longest Ears
Toby III, a six month old black male English Lop rabbit bred by Phil Wheeler of Barnsley, Yorkshire, UK has ears measuring 75.6 cm 2.5 ft long and 18.24cm 7.25 in wide in December 1996. He comes from a long line of long-eared English lop rabbits owned by bunny-breeder Phil Wheeler. When Phil introduced his first English lop to his other rabbits, the baby bunnies all had significantly longer ears than before, so Phil started trying to breed a record-breaking bunny rabbit.

The English lop rabbit originates from Algiers in Africa - a baking hot place. Unlike humans, rabbits don't sweat. Instead, they pump blood around their ears, which cools the blood and therefore the rabbit. But the effort of pumping all that blood eventually caused the rabbits' ears to grow to the ear-normous sizes they are today.

Longest Hospital Trolley Duration
The UK's Tony Collins holds the Guinness World Record for the longest wait on a hospital trolley after spending 77 hours and 30 minutes stuck outside the toilets in the Princess Margaret Hospital, Swindon, UK, between February 24 and 27, 2001.

“I’d contracted a virus,” said Tony about his record-breaking experience, “and although I was taken in at 3 p.m. on the Saturday, it wasn’t until 8.30 p.m. on the Tuesday that I was found a bed in another ward, when an elderly patient was moved to make room for me.”

“I developed a bad back, had no privacy, and had to rely on the nurses to bring me a drink because there was nowhere to rest a jug!”

Despite his ordeal, Tony, a diabetic, returned to the hospital the day after he was released to thank the nurses who helped him deal with his pain – and give them a gift of a microwave oven!

“I can think of better records to have,” reflected the bed-sore superstar. “And unfortunately, it will probably be the sort of record that gets broken every day in the NHS.”

Ironically, as Guinness World Records researchers were considering his claim, Tony fell ill again, was forced to go back into hospital – and was left on a trolley for another 60 hours!
