Citaat:
Early Scandinavian d-beat bands, such as Anticimex, are associated with very noisy and distorted guitar and have a very maxed out sound. This wave of d-beat hardcore punk emerged in the early 1980s, particularly in 1982 with the release of Anticimex's 2nd 7", the genre-defining "Raped Ass" EP, notable for its raw recording and prominent Discharge influence. Even some of the more distinctly American sounding Swedish bands whose range of influence is classified as "thrash" (such as Mob 47) essentially employ a very fast d-beat. Japanese d-beat bands, however they fit into the wide range of Discharge influenced punk, are usually notable for either their faithful emulation of the European Discharge-influenced punk aesthetic (something at which bands like Disclose excel) or for their technically advanced playing, employing a d-beat in the context of a more transcendent and original whole. Band such as Bastard and Deathside are notable for their strong sense of melody and their subtly metallic playing, drawing influence from other aspects of Discharge's playing as well as North American Discharge-influenced bands such as Poison Idea. While bands have played in this style since the early '80s, hardcore punk is currently experiencing a resurgence of interest in Discharge and Scandinavian/Japanese influenced hardcore in the new millennium. Groups from around the world such as Wolfbrigade and Tragedy are largely responsible for the movement towards the fusing of the driving Discharge sound with dark, melodic elements reminiscent of Amebix, while other bands such as Portland's Warcry or Canada's Decontrol exemplify a kind of punk nostalgia, playing pure d-beat hardcore and proudly wearing their influences on their sleeves. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/D-beat |

![]() The Butcher Right from day one of their existence the Butcher has managed to set a strong name for themselves in the European hardcore punk scene. The Butcher’s fast music, comparable to early-eighties hardcore punk, receives a warm welcome from a wide audience, ranging from fans of old school hardcore to trash and early punk. The Butcher was formed in 1997 and consists of five members; John-Paul van Herk (Vocals), Eric van den Boom (Guitar), Arnim van Uijtregt (Guitar), Pieter Pas (Bass) and Paul Wouters (Drums). The Butcher has released three full-length albums; Assassins at your Service, Backyard Burial and Mass Destruction Manual proving their full commitment to their style and music. They are renowned for their energetic live-shows making it hard for the crowd not to join in on the action. The Butcher performs as headlining act at many gigs and regularly shares the stage with great bands like DRI, Ignite, Dropkick Murphy’s, Slapshot, Blood for Blood, UK Subs, and Discipline. Mass Destruction Manual is the new album of these notorious hardcore punk maniacs from The Netherlands. The album is a sublime composition of fast, energetic hardcore punk songs combined with some good ol' trash and excellent sing-along punk. It features 20 songs offering some 37 minutes of music and is described as one of the most promising releases in European hardcore punk for 2003 (Aardschok magazine, Up Magazine, mow-zine.com). The album was recorded, mixed and mastered at Midas Studios in Lokeren Belgium by Tony de Block. Through the excellent recording quality and sheer power of the songs featured on Mass Destruction Manual, the Butcher claims its well deserved place high on the list of Europe's most wanted when it comes to fast and hard-hitting hardcore punk. 1 van de vetste NL hardcore/punk bands van t moment vin ik. Vooral live zoooooo goed en altijd om te lachen. ![]()

maar buiten dat alles gaat er voor mij maar heel weinig boven het volgende:
In the last years of the 1990s, one of the few venues for underground punk shows in Memphis, TN, was a warehouse space located across the street from the hotel where Martin Luther King was assassinated. In the midst of the city's economic depression, surrounded by timeless symbols of oppression, social struggle, rock & roll and blues, His Hero Is Gone rose as a new voice for the voiceless victims of increasing globalization, terroristic urban policing, cultural alienation, and corporate greed. Through each of the bombastic and disharmonic chords of its brief existence, His Hero Is Gone burned like a molitov cocktail, spreading a fire through the political D.I.Y. underground whose heat continues to be felt. After a well-received first 7", His Hero Is Gone released 15 Counts of Arson, 15 tracks as incendiary as the title suggested. After touring aggressively, the band had become one of the world's leading political punk bands, surpassing fellow southern innovators Damad and inspiring even some of the most lethargic and jaded members of the punk rock community to action. The band followed up with Monuments to Thieves, a triumphant swan song, a crescendo of burning anger, thick and tense from start to finish. As it should be in punk rock, His Hero Is Gone caught fire quickly and burned out quickly. Following the U.S. and European tours to support Monuments, the group disbanded, most notably splintering into the very similar crust band Tragedy. ~ Paul Kott, All Music Guide voor mp3's kan je als het goed is hier terecht: http://www.epitonic.com/artists/hisheroisgone.html |
