Mijnenvelden op zich houden weinig tegen, aan de ene kant ruimen en aan de andere kant leggen, maar als ze daadwerkelijk troepen hebben die de grens bestrijken kan het misschien een verschil maken.

Ik hoop alleen dat ze die velden goed in kaart brengen, zodat mocht het per ongeluk ooit gebeuren dat dat gebied beschaaft wordt, dat de mijnen ook zonder al te veel problemen geruimt kunnen worden.

AMSTERDAM - In Japan is sinds 15 maanden weer het doodvonnis voltrokken. Vier gevangenen die de doodstraf hadden gekregen, zijn zondag opgehangen. Het zijn de eerste executies in Japan onder de nieuwe minister president Shinzo Abe. Dat meldt de BBC.

Onder de voormalige minister van Justitie Seiken Sugiura werden geen executies uitgevoerd. Dit zou tegen zijn Boeddhistische geloof in gaan. Drie maanden geleden werd hij echter vervangen door Jinen Nagase, die de doodstraf weer invoerde.


Amnesty International in Japan heeft de executies veroordeeld.

Ik denk dat er ook in NL aardig wat mensen vóór de doodstraf zijn. Over de manier waarop zal dat percentage wat lager liggen.

Ik denk dat dat wel meevalt. Ik denk dat de meerderheid van de bevolking in beginsel tegen de doodstraf is. Wel een krappe meerderheid overigens. Daarnaast denk ik echter ook dat wanneer er weer eens een klein kind is vermoord of een zielige bejaarde overvallen, de meerderheid ineens wél voor de doodstraf is. Net zoals Hans van Baalen van de VVD die 'principieel' tegen de doodstraf was 'behalve voor Saddam Hoessein'.

Docent niet vervolgd voor relatie met leerlinge

DEN HAAG - Het Openbaar Ministerie (OM) zal een ex-leraar biologie van het Haagse Montessori Lyceum niet vervolgen voor zijn relatie met een minderjarige leerlinge.

Een woordvoerster zei vrijdag dat vervolging niet mogelijk is omdat het meisje, haar ouders en de school weigeren aangifte te doen.


Volgens het OM is het niet strafbaar dat de schooldirecteur geen aangifte doet tegen de man. "De aangifteplicht is niet gebaseerd op de wet, maar op een protocol van de onderwijsinspectie", aldus de zegsvrouw. Het OM heeft de onderwijsinspectie inmiddels op de hoogte gebracht.

Afscheidsfeest

De leraar werd in juni van dit jaar op non-actief gezet vanwege de relatie met het 16-jarige meisje. Na zijn ontslag kreeg de ex-docent een premie van 20.000 euro en een afscheidsfeest.

Daarover ontstond grote opschudding. Ook minister Maria van de Hoeven (Onderwijs) mengde zich in de discussie. Ze zei "de ophef volkomen te begrijpen".

De 41-jarige docent algemene natuurwetenschappen en biologie zou sinds 2004 een relatie van anderhalf jaar met het meisje hebben gehad. Toen dat in juni bekend werd, is hij volgens het dagblad op non-actief gezet. De moeder van het meisje werkte ook op de school en zou geen reactie hebben gekregen toen zij de situatie meldde bij de directie. Later zou zij zijn ontslagen.

et Bureau Onderwijsinspectie stelt in de krant dat sprake is van seksueel misbruik, ook al stemt het meisje zelf in met de verhouding. "Een docent en een leerling zijn namelijk niet gelijkwaardig. De school is verplicht aangifte te doen", zegt een woordvoerder.

Het is niet duidelijk of dat is gebeurd. De politie zegt op de hoogte te zijn van de zaak, maar stelt dat het meisje geen aangifte wilde doen.

De directeur zegt dat het arbeidscontract van de docent ontbonden is bij de kantonrechter, toen de relatie aan het licht kwam. "En dan is het zeer gebruikelijk dat iemand wat geld meekrijgt. En wat wij organiseren voor een collega die afscheid neemt, is een interne aangelegenheid." Hij ontkent dat sprake is van seksueel misbruik, omdat het meisje bijna volwassen is.

Tussen de 12 en 16 is vrijwillige seks nog een klachtdelict. Het is hoogst abnormaal en ongewenst dat een docent, zeker een van zo'n leeftijd, relaties aan gaat met leerlingen, maar strafbaar is het domweg niet. Dat domme wicht heeft zich gewoon laten misbruiken, die man was een lul om daar aan te beginnen, en verloor zijn baan als resultaat daarvan. Ik zie niet echt waarom er dan geen afscheid genomen mag worden of waarom afspraken die gemaakt worden voor de kantonrechter opeens reden van ophef moeten zijn.

Nu.nl is dan ook een vrij waardeloze site als het aan komt op de precieze achtergronden. Ook bij het doodrijden van die zakkenroller destijds (waar nu weer ophef voer de vervolging is) waren zij degenen die schreven dat die zakkenroller honderden meters achterna is gezeten, terwijl dat duidelijk een fabeltje was, verzonnen door vrienden van de gedode zakkenroller.
Als journalist kan je beter direct een geweer tegen je hoofd zetten als je dan nog niet eens kunt bedenken dat een direct betrokkene die niet eens aanwezig was misschien een twijfelbare bron is.

Natuurlijk kan dat, maar het gaat er bij mij niet in dat zo'n relatie met instemming berust op pure manipulatie, zeker als het langer duurt, zeker wanneer dat anderhalf jaar duurt, zoals hier.

Feitelijk is de hele ophef overtrokken. Alleen al het feit dat die doos Vd Hoeven zich er weer eens mee moest bemoeien, laat ze haar echte werk gaan doen in plaats van zich moralistisch te bemoeien met zaken die haar nauwelijks aan gaan.

Bedoel je dat meisje, of dat die man zijn baan verloor?

In het geval van het meisje: Je leest in de artikelen in ieder geval terug dat een deel van de ophef van de moeder af komt. Eerst anderhalf jaar met iemand gaan en er daarna achter komen dat het een slecht idee was, dat kan, beetje clueless, maar het kan.
Daarna vallen over compensatie terwijl die man zijn baan verliest vind ik aardig raar. Waarom kostte het zo lang voor die moeder om uit te vogelen dat het afkeurenswaardig was op een manier dat die man zonder enige vergoeding (de kantonrechter was het daar getuige het vonnis al niet mee eens, dus ik ga er van uit dat de vergoeding ondanks de grond van ontbinding terecht was) zijn baan moet verliezen. Aandringen op strafrechtelijke vervolging zou dan nog gekker zijn, maar het meisje wil dat zelf niet.

MORE than 150 people were presumed dead today after two boats of would-be migrants fleeing Somalia capsized off the coast of Yemen, the UN refugee agency said.

"The confirmed death toll is now 34. The 123 still missing are presumed dead," said William Spindler, spokesman for the UN High Commisioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

The UNHCR said yesterday at least 17 people were killed and 140 missing after the incident, which took place late on Wednesday after Yemeni security forces opened fire on smugglers trying to bring more than 500 people into the country, across the Gulf of Aden.

Two boats had offloaded their passengers and were then fired upon by Yemeni security forces. A third boat capsized after being unbalanced by agitated passengers, and the fourth was pursued by Yemeni coastguard boats and a helicopter, and capsized in heavy seas some 300m from the beach.

Mr Spindler said the majority of the 357 survivors were Somalis, and 75 were Ethiopians.

"The general ruling is that they are infidels, apostates and hypocrites," he wrote. "They are more dangerous than Jews and Christians," he wrote in the edict, which Abdul Rahman said was in response to a question from a follower.

HAMBURG - Een arme Duitser die meer bier wilde drinken heeft de hond van het 6-jarige kind van zijn vriendin verkocht om bij te kunnen bestellen. Dit meldde het dagblad Bild vrijdag.

De 43-jarige, werkloze inwoner van Hamburg ging naar eigen zeggen de hond uitlaten toen hij het appartement van zijn vriendin en haar dochtertje verliet met het hondje. In een café aan de overkant raakte de man in gesprek met iemand die belangstelling toonde voor het beest. Om meer bier te kunnen bestellen, verkocht hij toen het hondje voor veertig euro, waarmee hij tot vier uur in de ochtend bier kon blijven drinken.

Moeder en dochter hebben urenlang vergeefs naar het hondje gezocht. Uiteindelijk biechtte de verkoper het verhaal op en benaderde de koper. Die had medelijden en gaf het dier terug.

KNMI waarschuwt voor zware windstoten

Het KNMI heeft vandaag een waarschuwing doen uitgaan voor zeer zware windstoten. Omdat de harde wind grote schade aan kan richten, is er zelfs een weeralarm afgegeven. Volgens het KNMI moet er vanavond rekening gehouden worden met windstoten tot een snelheid van 110 kilometer per uur.

Met name het noordwesten van het land zal te maken krijgen met harde windstoten. Vanavond tussen 23.00 en 02.00 uur is er daar mogelijk zelfs sprake van een zware storm.

A triumphal religious prophecy has appeared on an Iranian official state media website, heralding the return of the Shiite messiah.

According to the website, "Imam Mahdi (may God hasten his reappearance) will appear all of a sudden on the world scene with a voice from the skies announcing his reappearance at the holy Ka'ba in Mecca."

The Islamic Republic of Iran broadcasting (IRIB) website said in a program called 'The World Towards Illumination,' that the Mahdi will reappear in Mecca and form an army to defeat Islam's enemies in a series of apocalyptic battles, in which the Mahdi will overcome his archvillain in Jerusalem.

The series has been regularly updated throughout November and December.

"The Mahdi's far sightedness and firmness in the face of mischievous elements will strike awe. After his uprising from Mecca all of Arabia will be submit to him and then other parts of the world as he marches upon Iraq and established his seat of global government in the city of Kufa.

“Then the Imam will send 10 thousand of his forces to the east and west to uproot the oppressors. At this time God will facilitate things for him and lands will come under his control one after the other," the website declared.

"After his appearance the Imam would remain in Mecca for some time, and then go to Medina... a descendant of the Prophet's archenemy Abu Sofyan will seize Syria and attack Iraq and the Hejaz with the ferocity of a beast… finally Imam Mahdi sends troops who kill the Sofyani in Beit ol-Moqaddas (Jerusalem), the Islamic holy city in Palestine that is currently under occupation of the Zionists," the IRIB added.

'Jesus will be Mahdi's lieutenant'

According to the Iranian series, the Mahdi will reappear on earth with Jesus: "We read in the book Tazkarat ol-Olia, 'the Mahdi will come with Jesus son of Mary accompanying him.' …Imam Mahdi will be the leader while Prophet Jesus will act as his lieutenant in the struggle against oppression and establishment of justice in the world. Jesus had himself given the tidings of the coming of God's last messenger and will see Mohammad's ideals materialize in the time of the Mahdi."

"The seat of the Mahdi's global government will be the city of Kufa , where his headquarters will be the Sahla Mosque… From here he will dominate the east and the west to fill the earth with justice," the special series predicted.

The website added that prayers for the Mahdi's return were said daily in Iran: "In our time, many pray for his appearance and each day they renew their allegiance to him. 'O God, make me one of his companions, show me his respected and bright visage, and hasten his reappearance.'"

The IRIB website is filled with details of the Mahdi's return, including descriptions of physical attributes of "the perfect human being."

"He will appear as a handsome young man, clad in neat clothes and exuding the fragrance of paradise… He has a radiant forehead, black piercing eyes and a broad chest. He very much resembles his ancestor Prophet Mohammad (SAWA).

“Heavenly light and justice accompany him. He will overcome enemies and oppressors with the help of God, and as per the promise of the Almighty the Mahdi will eradicate all corruption and injustice from the face of the earth and establish the global government of peace, justice and equity."

'The World Towards Illumination' series cites some Islamic sources as saying that the Mahdi's return "may coincide with the Spring Equinox... A saying attributed to the Prophet's 6th infallible heir, Imam Ja'far Sadeq (PBUH) says the Mahdi will appear on the Spring Equinox and God will make him defeat Dajjal the Impostor or the anti-Christ as the Christians say, who will be hanged near the dump of Kufa."

According to the website, "Imam Mahdi (may God hasten his reappearance) will appear all of a sudden on the world scene with a voice from the skies announcing his reappearance at the holy Ka'ba in Mecca."

The Islamic Republic of Iran broadcasting (IRIB) website said in a program called 'The World Towards Illumination,' that the Mahdi will reappear in Mecca and form an army to defeat Islam's enemies in a series of apocalyptic battles, in which the Mahdi will overcome his archvillain in Jerusalem.

The series has been regularly updated throughout November and December.

"The Mahdi's far sightedness and firmness in the face of mischievous elements will strike awe. After his uprising from Mecca all of Arabia will be submit to him and then other parts of the world as he marches upon Iraq and established his seat of global government in the city of Kufa.

“Then the Imam will send 10 thousand of his forces to the east and west to uproot the oppressors. At this time God will facilitate things for him and lands will come under his control one after the other," the website declared.

"After his appearance the Imam would remain in Mecca for some time, and then go to Medina... a descendant of the Prophet's archenemy Abu Sofyan will seize Syria and attack Iraq and the Hejaz with the ferocity of a beast… finally Imam Mahdi sends troops who kill the Sofyani in Beit ol-Moqaddas (Jerusalem), the Islamic holy city in Palestine that is currently under occupation of the Zionists," the IRIB added.

'Jesus will be Mahdi's lieutenant'

According to the Iranian series, the Mahdi will reappear on earth with Jesus: "We read in the book Tazkarat ol-Olia, 'the Mahdi will come with Jesus son of Mary accompanying him.' …Imam Mahdi will be the leader while Prophet Jesus will act as his lieutenant in the struggle against oppression and establishment of justice in the world. Jesus had himself given the tidings of the coming of God's last messenger and will see Mohammad's ideals materialize in the time of the Mahdi."

"The seat of the Mahdi's global government will be the city of Kufa , where his headquarters will be the Sahla Mosque… From here he will dominate the east and the west to fill the earth with justice," the special series predicted.

The website added that prayers for the Mahdi's return were said daily in Iran: "In our time, many pray for his appearance and each day they renew their allegiance to him. 'O God, make me one of his companions, show me his respected and bright visage, and hasten his reappearance.'"

'Mahdi to come during spring equinox?'

The IRIB website is filled with details of the Mahdi's return, including descriptions of physical attributes of "the perfect human being."

"He will appear as a handsome young man, clad in neat clothes and exuding the fragrance of paradise… He has a radiant forehead, black piercing eyes and a broad chest. He very much resembles his ancestor Prophet Mohammad (SAWA).

“Heavenly light and justice accompany him. He will overcome enemies and oppressors with the help of God, and as per the promise of the Almighty the Mahdi will eradicate all corruption and injustice from the face of the earth and establish the global government of peace, justice and equity."

'The World Towards Illumination' series cites some Islamic sources as saying that the Mahdi's return "may coincide with the Spring Equinox... A saying attributed to the Prophet's 6th infallible heir, Imam Ja'far Sadeq (PBUH) says the Mahdi will appear on the Spring Equinox and God will make him defeat Dajjal the Impostor or the anti-Christ as the Christians say, who will be hanged near the dump of Kufa."

Gaddafi: Allow Jews, Christians entry to Mecca

Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi called to “allow Jews and Christians to visit Mecca and circle the Kaaba (cubical building surrounded by the Sacred Mosque)."

These days Muslims all around the world are marking Eid al-Adha, the most important Islamic holiday. Some three million people have made the pilgrimage to Mecca.

Gaddafi believes the holiday offers a great opportunity to bring the three main monotheistic religions closer together. “Everyone has the right to stand atop Mount Arafat and circle the Kaaba,” he told the media.

“The Kaaba is not meant for Arabs alone, but for people of all continents; the mistake was that they granted this privilege only to Mohammad’s descendents, but the Quran does not support this.”

The Libyan leader warned of the dangers of exploiting religion, warning that it could foster terror and destruction.

Half a year ago Gaddafi made similar remarks saying that the Kaaba is the house of God and all the people of the world should encircle it when Prophet Mohammad returns.

"We are the followers of Prophet Mohammad but our position today is wrong because we are preventing them from worshiping God and encircling the Kaaba," he said.

Gaddafi criticized Saddam Hussein's execution saying it was worthless and irrelevant.

Stropers doden 17 olifanten in Zimbabwe
UTRECHT/HARARE (ANP/AFP) - Stropers hebben niet ver van de beroemde Victoria-watervallen in Zimbabwe zeventien olifanten en een neushoorn gedood. Van alle dieren ontbrak het kostbare ivoor.
De stropers, die later naar het naburige Zambia vluchtten, verwondden een parkopzichter. De handel in ivoor is in 1989 verboden in een poging de olifantenkuddes te beschermen. De dieren zijn vooral gewild vanwege hun ivoren slagtanden.

Blackanthem Military News, SINIYAH, Iraq – Local and provincial government officials met with Iraqi Security Forces and Coalition Forces in Siniyah Monday to discuss solutions for security and healthcare as well as the city-wide security operation ongoing since Nov. 29.

Lt. Col. Scott Harris, commander, 1st Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, stressed the importance of security and the need for a new police headquarters in the city. He reinforced that the key to success is the presence of Iraqi Police and cooperation from the principle sheiks.

Numerous terrorist activities over the last few months have resulted in the deaths of innocent civilians, ISF and CF.

On Saturday, IA and Coalition troops concluded their operations in Siniyah and initially established a temporary police station.

During the meeting, local sheiks expressed concern to open the new medical clinic in Siniyah. “The people of Siniyah hope they will one day soon be able to man and supply it,” said Imam Said. Of note, there is already a medical clinic in Siniyah and a hospital in nearby Bayji, but the new clinic would provide increased capability.

The meeting concluded with a majority-rule vote that determined they would work with the Iraqi and Coalition Forces to find another location for the police station. The Salah ad Din government and coalition forces will also begin providing the clinic with medical equipment and supplies, said Salah ad Din Governor Hamed Hamood Shekti.

“The people of Siniyah have to take the lead in providing for their own security and to not let terrorists operate out of the city,” said Shekti.

But Harris emphasized, “I will ensure there is an Iraqi police force here to enforce law and order. We are going to continue to assist the Iraqi Security Forces in targeting terrorists to ensure they do not return.”

He continued, “Without security, the 30,000 good people of Siniyah will continue to suffer and live in fear of terrorism … after we determine that security is established we will finish the new medical clinic, provide equipment and begin other projects.”

At the end of the meeting, Maj. Gen. Hamed, the provincial police chief, confirmed that he would have Iraqi Police in Siniyah Monday.

Harris explained to them how a badging system would work at the checkpoint and asked for their patience during the first few days. Governor Hamad and Maj. Gen. Hamed agreed that the badging system was a good idea and they all went to see the first badges issued. Harris also asked the mayor and imam to prioritize who needs to enter or exit the city. He reminded them, “the future of Siniyah is in your hands. Let’s move together forward towards a brighter future.”

Security will remain the heist of priority to protect the good people of Siniyah.

Doden door vuurwerk en branden

Een 36-jarige man uit Barendrecht is in Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht door vuurwerk omgekomen. Een 'granaat' ontplofte in zijn gezicht. In Geleen en Vaesrade, in Limburg, raakten mensen zwaargewond.

In Maassluis kwam bij een woningbrand een vrouw om. De brand ontstond door vuurwerk;de verdachte meldde zichzelf bij de politie. In Raalte was brand in een disco en in Leeuwarden in een restaurant. Er waren geen gewonden.

In Den Haag waren veel autobranden. Er werden 150 verdachten aangehouden voor brandstichting, geweldpleging en voor vernieling. Toch spreekt de politie van een 'relatief rustige jaarwisseling'.

Ramin also claimed that the reason Hitler developed such an aversion to Judaism was because his Jewish mother was a promiscuous woman. Hitler therefore, says Ramin, tried to escape his religion.

Ramin cites a 1974 book by Hennecke Kardel titled 'Adolf Hitler: Founder of Israel', which alleges that Hitler strived to create a Jewish state as a result of being influenced by his Jewish relatives and his cooperation with Britain – which also wanted to drive the Jews out of Europe.

Ramin claims in the interview that Hitler both identified with his Judaism and was disgusted by it. It is these ambivalent feelings, said Ramin, that formed the basis for his treatment of Jews.

According to Ramin on the one hand Hitler's relatives and the friends who brought him to power, as well as his mistresses and personal physician, were all Jewish.

In Iran willen ze op een of andere manier kunnen zeggen dat het nu gangbare verhaal een verzinsel is. Wat er dan precies verzonnen is maakt niet uit, en of hun versies met elkaar in tegenspraak zijn boeit ook niet, als er maar een leugen in zit. Als er namelijk een leugen bewezen kan worden, hoef je al het andere ook niet als waar te aanvaarden.

Ze willen een lek in het verhaal schieten, en dat doe je het efficientst met een schot hagel.
