Alby is the person who I particularly dislike. Alby is the leader of the group. He is always grumpy and he was one of the boys who did not trust Thomas from the beginning. When Alby was stung by a Griever (a horrible creature) he changed. When that had happened, he was even more annoying. He had sabotaged the plans of the group to escape. Alby draws a knife and throws it at Thomas. Chuck steps in front of the knife, giving his life to save Thomas. Thomas is crushed. He had promised Chuck he would find a way out and get Chuck back to his family. He attacks Alby, nearly beating the boy to death. That is why I hate Alby. He had better die now.

When Thomas wakes up he is in a box and can only remember his name. He cannot remember what happened before he woke up. When he gets out of the box he finds himself in the glade. The other boys who are in the glade do not have a memory of their life before entering the glade. There is a maze that surrounds the glade, and each day the boys try to solve the mystery of the maze to see if there is a way out of the glade. After Thomas arrives, the first girl appears and before collapsing says: "everything will change." Thomas works with the other boys to solve the mystery of the maze, the girls dire message and to remember his life before entering this strange new world. After many adventures in the maze they find a way out. But when they come out of the maze, the real world is destroyed. Soldiers save them and bring them to a safe place, where they find a bed, bathrooms and food. Now Thomas feels some hope for the future.
