My name is Thomas Panteer, I am a boy living in The Netherlands and I am 16 years old. I have red the article about the Camelford pollution in the local newspaper.

This story speaks to me because I can not understand how this all could happen. And I am wondering, why din’t the Water Authority just tell that the water was poisoned. It could save lots of healths. What I think is strange is that it was clearly the Water Authority vault, so why didn’t they pay the people who where sick at the time of the poisoned water or who still are sick a fair compensation.

I hope that the investigation that was started in 2005 will be in profit of the people of Camelford. And that the Water Authority admits that this problem was their vault. Hopefully the residents can get their life’s back properly.

Wat wil je nou dan? Ik heb je fouten toch verbeterd? Zoals ik al zei, ik ga geen hele brief voor je schrijven, je doet je eigen huiswerk maar.

En het is wel een beetje enorm stom om de brief te herschrijven en dan nog een enorme fout erin te laten staan (HEALTHS KAN NIET).

Luister, je brief is niet stellair, maar je zal d'r vast wel een voldoende voor krijgen. Zolang je maar een paar dingen verbeterd die er echt uitspringen.

Dingen als:

It could save a lot of healths.

Letterlijk vertaald staat hier "Dit zou een hoop gezondheden kunnen redden". Als je nou probeert die zin eens anders te schrijven, dan kom je er al een stuk beter uit denk ik. Probeer gewoon hele andere woorden te gebruiken, zoals "Dit zou een heleboel problemen hebben voorkomen".

De zin die daar op volgt is overigens veeeeeeeeeeeel te lang. Hij gaat wel vier regels door! Breek die zin op in meerdere zinnen, zodat ie meer leesbaar wordt.

En een tip: als je van jezelf weet dat je engelse woordenkennis niet goed is, houdt dan een woordenboek bij de hand als je een brief schrijft. Daarmee voorkom je fouten als "vault" (kluis/kelder) in plaats van "fault" (storing/fout).
