Hoi!

Nowadays it is normal that people are going on a holiday 2 till 3 times a year. Not so long ago this was only <<<weggelegd>>> for those with a exceeding income. Besides in every out-of-the-way place people can <<<terecht kunnen>>> in a luxury, commodious hotel. How can the growing travelbehaviour be explained? This growing tourism has big influence on the local population and nature. Are the consequences of this growing travelbehaviour acceptable?

The Dutchman is going on a holiday frequently, this appears from publications of CBS.
This average number is different in other groups of population. A city-dweller average goes on a holiday 3 times while the non-city-dweller average goes 2,3 times.
Also the city-dweller frequently goes on a holiday much more luxurious. In a plane they go to far-away countries and they stay in a hotel while the non-city-dweller goes to camp-sides by car. Used to be people do not go on a holiday that frequently. Besides, the journeys that where made, often were of business interest. The most important explanation for the growing tourism is that journeys are very payable nowadays.
People do not have to have an exceeding income to go on a holiday 2 till 3 times.
Besides, often there are <<<tweeverdieners>>> in the families of nowaday through wat families have more to spend. Also the travel methods become more comfortable compare with the past. For far-away countries people take the plan these days. In the past you had to take the boat. <<<Alleen al>>> the travelling-time is a immense diffent.
By that the holiday supply is extremely extensive. Now people can go everywhere, because the travelling-time is at most one day. The mobility of people is increased too. These days they can move many kilometres without spending too much time, money and trouble. Besides in every out-of-the-way place in the world is a comfortable hotel, where they sell Coca-Cola, Dutch cheese and Lays chips and in all big tourist resorts you can always find a Mc Donald’s or a Burger King. The touristic places are adapt to the western wishes that much, that they almost do not have to accustom to their new environment

But why is it that people go on a holiday? These days going on a holiday belongs to the annual attainments. An important reason for going on a holiday is to break the daily round. Now we are used to it that much that the holiday itself threaten to become a routine. This should absolutely not be the meaning of it.
Stress is also an important reason. Stress at work provides that people be in urgent need of a holiday. People often attribute a holiday as the best medicine against stress.
But in stead of a couple weeks keeping quiet, people prefer to go to a sunny place where they can do all sorts of busy activities in swimsuits.
Also people go on a holiday to find what they miss in their daily life.
This can be in many ways. There are special resorts to take a rest; resorts to improve the relationship with your partner and for the adventurers there are jungletrips. They are very popular under the holiday-makers. There are also holidays for fun. Holidays where sex, beer and party’s are the real point. Especially for younger people these holidays are very popular, they are free then and often goes totally <<<losgaan>>> on holidays like this. As a last reason there are the people who goes on a holiday to see the world, but they be in the minority. By this it seems that ‘real’ tourism, that would like to discover indigenous cultures, is ‘alienated’ from us.

The tourism deffinately has benefits for the tourist attractions. Firstly the area receives more publicity. This will cause more names reputation of the area and with this more people will come. Secondly the tourism causes many regional <<werkgelegenheid = working-opportunities??>>. A lot of holiday resorts are in country’s where it is not so well-worded with the <<<werkgelegenheid>>>. Tourism is an excellent way to get more people to work and with this reducing the unemployment.
Furthermore, tourism is also a large source of income. There are many areas which are economical independent of tourism. When this source of income <<zou wegvallen = be left out??>> the area will <<<verpauperen>>>.

But tourism does not only have it’s benefits.
The local inhabitants of the touristic areas are accustomed to rest and suddenly they will be confrontated with the bustle of tourism. Besides, the holiday-makers do not always behave very well, with can cause annoyance. Because the Dutchman do not on a holiday once, the local population will be confrontated with tourism the whole year.
Also the nature endures an enormous change-over. It is very busy in the traffic. This causes not only congestions, but also more bad gasses in the air. Also (much??) land will get lost by the building of different facilities like, swimming pools, <<<uitgaansgelegenheden>>> and all sorts of other attractive facilities. The nature frequently have to suffer for tourism. By the big hotels which were build there, the area gets an totally diffent <<gezicht = sight??>>.

Now you can look at the consequences of tourism in two diffent ways.
The increasing tourism has positive consequences for the social-economical development of the country. On the contrary, the consequences for the cultural-ecological development are less positive. On the question if the consequences are acceptable, the opinions probably will differ from each other. It is important that we can find a course in-between which will not be in the way of the development of the economy and the unfold of the local culture and nature. You have to think of ecotourism for example. Ecotourism is a shape of tourism which is less harmful for the environment and nature. By this the nature and environment will be less affect, while people can profit by economical benefits.

De correcte vertaling is: 'like father, like son'.

Je kunt namelijk voor "weggelegd zijn voor" de vertaling "to be reserved for" gebruiken, dus dat betekent dat de tweede zin er uit komt te zien als "Not so long ago this was only reserved for those with an exceeding income."

Because of this (ik weet niet wat vakantieaanbod is) has been extremely extended. Nowadays people can go everywhere, because the travelling-time is at maximum just one day. The mobility of people has increased too. These days they can travel many kilometres without spending too much time, money and trouble (hmm, je spend geen trouble...). Besides, in every out-of-the-way place in the world is a comfortable hotel, where they sell Coca-Cola, Dutch cheese and Lays chips and in all big tourist resorts you can always find a Mc Donald's or a Burger King. The tourist places adapted themselves so much to the western wishes. that western tourists almost do not have to accustom themselves to their new environment

But why is it that people go on a holiday? These days going on a holiday belongs to the annual achievements. An important reason for going on a holiday is to break the daily round. Now we are used to it that much that the holiday itself threatens to become a routine. This should absolutely not be the meaning of it.
Stress is also an important reason. Stress at work causes the urgent need of a holiday by people. They often attribute a holiday as the best medicine against stress.
But instead of a couple of weeks taking rest, people prefer to go to a sunny place where they can do all sorts of busy activities in swimsuits.
Also people go on a holiday to find what they miss in their daily life.
This can be in many ways. There are special resorts to take a rest; resorts to improve the relationship with your partner and for the adventurers there are jungle trips. They are very popular among the holiday-makers. There are also holidays for fun. Holidays where it comes to sex, beer and parties. Especially for younger people these holidays are very popular as these make them feel free. They often go completely crazy (of: get wasted on) holidays like these. The last reason is that there are people who go on a holiday to see the world, but they are in the minority. By this it seems that real tourism, which would like to discover indigenous cultures, has been alienated from us.

Tourism definitely has its advantages for the tourist attractions. Firstly, the area receives more publicity and people will get more familiar with the name of the area, which will result in more people coming to the place. Secondly, tourism causes many regional job opportunities. A lot of holiday resorts are in countries where it is not so well-endowed (? niet geheel zeker of je dat hier kunt gebruiken) with employment. Tourism is an excellent way to get more people to work and this will reduce the unemployment.
Furthermore, tourism is also a large source of income. There are many areas that are economically independent of tourism. When this source of income be left out the area will be reduced to pauperism.

But tourism also encounters disadvantages. Local inhabitants of the tourist areas are accustomed to (rest?) and suddenly they will be confronted with the bustle of tourism. Besides, the holiday-makers do not always behave very well, which can cause annoyance. Because the Dutchman does not go on a holiday just once a year, but more often, the local population will be confronted with tourism the whole year through.
Also nature endures an enormous change-over. It is very busy in the traffic. This causes not only more congestion of traffic, but also more bad gasses in the air. Also much land will be lost by the building of different facilities like swimming pools, entertainment centres and all sorts of other attractive facilities. Nature frequently has to suffer due to tourism. Because big hotels are being built, the area gets a totally different look.

Now you can look at the consequences of tourism in two different ways.
First of all, the increasing tourism has positive consequences for the social-economical development of the country. Yet, on the contrary, the consequences for the cultural-ecological development are less positive. To the question if the consequences are acceptable, opinions will probably differ from each other. It is important that we can find a middle course which will not stay in the way of economic development and the unfold of the local culture and nature. Think of ecotourism for example. Ecotourism is a way of tourism that is less harmful for the environment and nature. Because nature and environment will both be less affected, while people can still profit by economical benefits.
