my mind would kill us
and put the bounty on me

Don’t come close or you’ll be shot
by the crossfire in my lawless town
If you’d stay, against all odds
I would know you by the smoking gun in your hand

We’d ride through settlements and open plains
and drink scotch with whores and outlaws
You’d help me slay my treacherous mind
only to turn in disgust at the sight of my scars

The dust in my eyes makes it hard to read
Lots of endings but none end well
You live yours, I’ll write my own
as I disappear into the distance
