Ik heb 12 zinnen gevormd, 4 in the simple past, 4 in the negative en 4 vragen. Zou iemand de zinnen misschien kunnen na kijken op spel- en gramatica fouten?

Simple past:
About three or four years ago, everybody wanted a sequential gearshift.
They bloomed marvelous yesterday.
Blockbuster family exhibition, Dino jaws, opening on 30 June.
Yesterday we went to a hedge maze in Britain.

Negative sentences:
You can’t leapfrog ahead.
They can’t provide a safety net for the least fortunate.
Don’t encourage your heirs to expect a windfall, however.
It isn’t wishful thinking, it’s reality!

Questions:
In a irony almost too mind-boggling, is it possible that the New York Times just helped Obama get re-elected?
What is the penalty for failure to hit the target?
Does anybody in the press ever question these publicity handouts?
Did the government strengthen his ties with the province?

Twijfel alleen bij de laatste zin, is het niet "its ties"?

Gear shift schrijf je uit elkaar. Verder snap ik de zin die DAH aangaf ook niet.

Is een bijwoord, dus is het met -ly

-Blockbuster's- family exhibition, Dino jaws, -opened- on -June 30th-.
Bezittelijk vnw - moest past simple - ze zeggen geen 30 June... :)

Lastig uit te leggen...

Did the government strengthen his ties with the province? - ik zou het zo doen - HAS the government STRENGTHENED ITS ties with the province?
Idem...

Ik denk dat dat het wel zo'n beetje was! :D

Wat was de opdracht precies? Moest je zelf zinnen formuleren, of kreeg je een zin die je daarna moest omzetten naar de juiste tijd?

Ik zie namelijk een aantal foutjes en onnatuurlijke/onlogische zinnen.

Dit zou ik veranderen:

Simple past:
They bloomed marvelously yesterday.

Blockbuster family exhibition 'Dino Jaws' opened on june 30th.
(Geen komma's en '30 june' klinkt ook vreemd.)

Negative sentences:
Don’t encourage your heirs to expect a windfall, however.
(However kan beter vooraan de zin, of tussen Don't en Encourage. En 'encourage to expect' is ook vreemd. Heel die zin eigenlijk wel.)


Questions:

(Altijd 'an' als het volgende woord begint met een klinker. Verder een vreemde zin, maar grammaticaal correct.)

(Het is ofwel 'failing to hit the target' of 'failure of hitting the target')
