engelse woorden + zinnen
 
Hallo!

Ik ben bezig met de voorbereidingen voor mijn toets van engels. Daarvoor heb ik wat Engelse woorden gekregen die ik moest vertalen en die ik in een zin moest zetten. Uit de zin moet de betekenis van het woord af te leiden zijn.
Ik ben uit de meeste wel gekomen, maar weet niet ofdat ze goed zijn!

Zou iemand ze even na willen kijken?????? (y) :)

to estimate = schatten
- She looks young so she estimate that her age was only twelve years old.
-Three times she had passed through the square, riding a sit-up-and-beg bicycle that he estimated she must be at least twice her own age.

to stun = versteld doen staan a stunner = een schoonheid
-She was a stunner all right, and to do her credit she knew it.
-When I saw her beautiful smile I already knew she was a stunner.

a penchant = voorliefde
-She have a penchant for dark handsome strangers.

edifice = gebouw
-The great ancient edifice was built in 1900.

to avert the eyes = de ogen vermijden
-I avert her eyes because I was too shy to look in her eyes.

pensively = peinzend
-Pensively he thought about the result of the problem.

to drink to excess = ?????????????????????????

enigmatic = raadselachtig an enigma = raadselachtig persoon
-The woman is enigmatic because she sits all the day in the cafe and never does anything else.

solitary = eenzaam, op zich zelf stand
-I thought he was solitary because he never had a girlfriend

to convey an impression = het zag er naar uit
-She was the first woman who won the running contest in town and it conveyed the impression of it was also a record.

to feel compunction about something = berouw hebben
-He felt compunction about that because he had never helped her.

unrestrainedly = uitbundig (niet terughoudend )
-She laughs unrestrainedly about the nice joke.

beguiling = bekoorlijk (aanlokkend)
-She haves dark handsome hair, blue eyes and beguiling.

tedious = langdradig
-The call was tedious, I did 5 other things in the time she was calling.

peril = gevaar, oorzaak perilous(ly) = gevaarlijk
-It’s perilously to walk outside alone in the dark.

tranquil = kalm, rustig tranquility = kalmte, rustigheid
-The sea was tranquil because there was no wind.

world-weary = levensmoe
-He was world-weary and killed himself.

to glint = glinsteren
-The building glint in the sun.

to decide = beslissen
-I have to decide which study I want to do or else I’m too late.

-I was stunned to see that they fitted 13 people in a mini cooper.

-I averted from eyes because I was too shy too look in her eyes.

pensively = peinzend
-Pensively he drinks his tea.
toelichting: Je kan niet peinzend denken. Peinzend is namelijk altijd denken.

to drink to excess = drinken om uit te blinken
ja das dus raar. waarschijnlijk is het "to drink excessively" wat zoveel betekend als; Overmatig drinken.

de rest doe ik strax, ik ben bijna thuis

De zin van Deadlock is duidelijker, en beter naar mijn idee, alleen moet they dan there zijn.

Jouw zin is erg vreemd..
It was the first time she won the running contest in town, and that conveyed the impression that she used doping ?

-She HAS dark handsome hair, blue eyes and SHE IS VERY beguiling.

nee dat kan niet. to drink to excess betekent drinken om uit te blinken.
to drink to an excess kan wel. Das teveel drinken
