It's a bad day for Abby, who's missing the still-absent Luka, when Joe is brought to the ER after a fall and is unable to reach Luka. Elsewhere, the day puts family first as Morris cares for a frightened child and Pratt defends his brother. Neela returns to work, and Moretti returns from a conference. A patient's mother gives the ER staffers makeovers in appreciation. The ER gets a new clerk.
en van een fansite: ER: Gravity (Episode #294) It's makeover madness in the ER this week! A rather thankful mother (who happens to own a salon) offers free makeovers to the doctors who saved her son's life. First up, Abby. This was the beginning to her very awful day. With feathered hair a la Farrah Fawcett, Abby becomes the center of attention (not necessarily good attention) around the ER. To make matters worse, she has to work with the intern who has a crush on her. They meet a man who they immediately peg as having kidney stones, mistake number one. Pratt meets a patient with severe arthritis in his hip. Turns out, he is a former Pro-football player, and Frank is one of his biggest fans. Sadly, Archebold (the football player) can't afford the surgery he needs and gives Pratt his super bowl ring to pay for it. Frank tries to convince Pratt not to sell it, claiming it's a major piece of history. Pratt decides to try and help him for free, giving him back his superbowl ring. As if things couldn't get worse for Abby, her son is brought in after falling at the park and hitting his head. He is covered in blood and screaming uncontrollably. While every doctor and nurse are working on Joe, Abby's son, Morris and Abby clash on treatment. Abby doesn't want her son having a CT scan, due to sedation. It takes extreme convincing for Abby to let the other doctors take care of her son. Getting even worse, Abby cannot get a hold of Luca. As the ER is fighting to help one of their own's child, Gates is busy taking Josh to Wrigley Field for a Cubs game. As it turns out, Josh was not accepted into the Hopkins program for his lung disease. He and his mother are moving to Baltimore, and Gates wanted to show him a good time before he left Chicago. Gates even got a player to come talk to Josh, who gave him a baseball signed by the entire team. Upon saying goodbye, Josh's mom had a little thank you planned for Gates. Unfortunately, it didn't go past a kiss, even after she invited him upstairs. Joe's CT scan shows an abnormality in his head, totally freaking Abby out. Now, he needs an MRI, and definite sedation. While waiting for the results, she continuously calls Luca, who still isn't answering. It was interesting how Joe went from near-death to normal in a span of 20 seconds. Turns out his head is fine and Abby can take him home immediately. Wow, the miracle of medicine. Before heading home, Abby learns the man diagnosed with kidney stones, actually had some sort of mass growing on his kidney. Yeah, he almost died. Mistake number 2. On her way home, Abby gets into a car accident. It's a slight fender bender, nothing serious, but come on! Could things get any worse? Yes. They can. Upon finally arriving home, Abby notices a card addressed to Neela and a bottle of wine sitting on the counter. She pops the bottle open in record time, grabs a glass, and then? I don't know. The episode ended with that final scene. But next week should be interesting. |
