Oud-Engels?

Hallo!

Allereerst ik hoop dat ik op het goede forum zit

Ik heb een vraag over Oud-Engels. Ik begrijp iets niet zo goed hoe het werkt met thou/thy/thee Kan iemand me daar uitleg over geven?

Overigens als er oiemand nog sites heeft met gedichten, songtexten of wat dan ook in het Oud-Engels

Ehh, ik weet ook niet of het hier thuishoort, het is iig wel een oude taal dus..
Ik laat het staan, en als er geen (nuttige) reacties komen, verplaats ik het naar Moderne Talen.

Wel, ik weet er niet zoveel van, maar met wat afleiden kom ik op iets dat die persoonlijke (en bezittelijke) voornaamwoorden kunnen betekenen.
Je kent het principe naamval. Zeer belangrijk vroeger (kennelijk) in de Germaanse talen. Zie Duits, zie Middel-Nederlands. En Oud-Engels!
Thou is gewoon de eerste naamval, de nominativus. Dus 'thou art courageous' ('je bent moedig'), of zoiets. Dan heb je thy, en dat is een bijvoeglijk naamwoord in de 2e persoon enkelvoud (zo heb je nog wat aan grammatica).
'Thy courage is great' ('je moed is groot'), bijvoorbeeld.
En tot slot heben we nog thee. Dat is de dativus (nu maar hopen dat ik dat goed zeg), en wordt dus als meewerkend voorwerp gebruikt. 'It will give thee courage' ('het zal jou moed geven').

Dat is de betekenis van die drie woorden. Hopelijk was de uitleg duidelijk en, belangrijker, correct.

Maar verder veel plezier met je zoektocht naar een mooie taal! En doe zeker Shakespeare eens gezellig aan, maar dat hoef ik je vast niet te zeggen. In de beginstrofen van zijn beroemd sonnet vind je trouwens ook je woordjes:

Thou art more lovely and more temperate:
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,

I = onderwerp
compare = bare infinitif
*thee = lijdend voorwerp*

dus volgens mij is "thee" accusatief
wat denken jullie???

Hm, misschien is 'thee' zowel acc. als dat.?
Net zoals 'jou' in het Nederlands.
