Anonimiteit schijnt beleid te zijn voor de band Aufgehoben. Middels uitstekende en prachtig uitgegeven releases op Holy Mountain en Riot Season wist het viertal echter met regelmaat van de klok de aandacht plechtig op te eisen, maar het hoe en waarom rond de band blijft grotendeels gehuld in mysterie. Feit is dat Aufgehoben sinds haar ontstaan in 1998 een van de meest interessante experimentele muziekacts is die het Verenigd Koninkrijk rijk is. De band geniet een zeer goede live reputatie. De gespierde live improvisatie tussen de twee drummers, gitaar en live electronica wordt ter plekke omgevormd wordt tot een compromisloze maar edele vorm van gelaagde, gedeconstrueerde rock, ondersteund door bezwerende visuals.

Not only from across the borders but also within the Netherlands, we've been witnessing a new wave of often self-schooled knob-twisters and experienced improv outfits bringing abstract music and sound art. Web profiles are growing like fungus on damp soil. Unadulterated experimental misfit music will however always remain proportionally unpopular. The 'Overtollig Vet' mini festivals seek to support and fortify new talent (sometimes backed up by critically acclaimed artists) in a festive vein.

DAVE PHILIPS
Swiss Dave Philips is co-founder of cult hardcore-extremist grinders Fear Of God and collaborator in the Schimpfluch-Gruppe. After the nuclear blast with Fear Of God, the subsequent decision to work solo led to experiments with the voice, an interest in bodily and concrete sounds, field recordings and the still prevalent search for experiences and phenomena that test and cross borders, habits, inhibitions and rules. The ever so important and exciting work of Philips anno 2009 researches and ponders existence, behaviours and value-systems, in a way that, most unscientifically, could be termed humanimalistic or intimate. Using sound as main catalyst, his re/search is for improvement, raising awareness, finding meaning, tuning senses, seeing the big picture, and some form of release - a release that often is polemical and cathartic, and one that opposes the omnipresent reduction of existence, that desires to cast aside artificial arrangements and constraints.

KNALPOT
Drummer Gerri Jaeger and Raphael Vanoli (guitar/casio/electronics) stuff their music with spastic but grooving rhythms, loops, blips and melodies - pushing the envelope for the post-rock / improvisation aesthetic. By doing so, Knalpot are currently one of the most interesting bands on the Dutch menu.

ONE MAN NATION
Singapore-born Marcus Destructos has been residing in Rotterdam with his solo project One Man Nation for quite a while now. Ever since he has been making his rounds in this country and Europe, so this Live show at WORM is somewhat overdue. One Man Nation dishes out an balanced and excellent diet of glitches and electronica for the experimental minded.

ANEMONE TUBE
Anemone Tube's Stefan Hanser uses field-recordings, synthetic sounds and voice for his sound manipulation. His audioworks are best described as dark ambient/industrial/noise with a strong psychogenic impact. Especially the use of constantly shifting and altering sounds and moods is an intruiging aspect. Like One Man Nation, Anemone Tube is currently based in Rotterdam.

C-UTTER
Barcelona based D.I.Y. champions C-utter have been early RadioWORM supporters and create obscure industrial drones with bizarre twist and turns.

Super blij zijn we met de line up van Les Petites Différences Marginales numéro deux! De vorige editie was een knaller en we doen het dit jaar nog maar es dikjes over. De Franse underground parels die wij in 2009 presenteren heten: Scarlatti Goes Electro: een uniek live duel waarbij sonates van Domenico Scarlatti zowel in electro disco versies als op de klassieke manier met een klavecimbel (!) worden vertolkt. Les Princes Du Kuduro: de eerste ware ghetto Kuduro act die Rotterdam bezoekt. Meer vlammend hete dansmuziek is er in de vorm van de hilarische baguette afrobeat van Tropika Matta, waarvoor Kap Bambino's beatfabrikant Orion de meeste tracks inelkaar zette. Als je wilt weten hoe Frankrijk op dit moment muzikaal buiten de lijntjes tekent is dit een must!



DJ ARC DE TRIOMPHE (Cartilage Records)
Gaspare Balducci is the man behind the fledgling Parisian label Cartilage Records with whom we conspired to dish up tonight's line up. As a dj he is heavily into archiving and spinning the most upbeat, funny and freakish pop music, for which he scans the Globe's outer limits. Balducci also organizes many great parties and events all around France.

TROPIKA MATTA
The link with last year's 'Les Petites Différences Marginales' victors KAP BAMBINO remains intact because KAP BAMBINO's original beatmaker Orion is the ghost producer for Tropika Matta's exhilirating beats and basslines. This Dutch premiere of Captain Matta's off-the-wall dance music and absurd 'ragga-dada' lyrical banter is guaranteed to put a smile on everyone's face!

LES PRINCES DU KUDURO
Kuduro is a fresh new and shit hot dance music that originates from the Angolese ghettos, mixing African rhythms with hard-edged house and hiphop style influences. It is rapidly gaining popularity in France. Les Princes du Kuduro are one of the most potent examples of Kuduro currently being made in France.

Domenico Scarlatti was a brilliant italian composer from the 17th century, who wrote tons of sonatas for the harpsichord. Tonight we'll witness the unique ping-pong battle mix of the Scarlatti sonatas in two different interpretations: the original versions played on a real harpsichord (!), followed by hilarious electronic disco renditions. Not to be missed!

TAPETRONIC
Tapetronic is a captivating visual sound performance where creator Alexis Malbert utilizes the manipulated mechanisms of 'ordinary' cassette tape as alternative instruments to challenge the sound of turntable scratching. In the numerical age his lo-fi / high energy show shuns digital tools and celebrates new forms of entertainment.

Het in 1987 opgerichtte Zeni Geva refereert in haar muziek op een unieke manier aan verschillende harde muzieksoorten. De band kwam al snel tot een vernieuwend geluid in de tijd dat het nog niet hip was om naar de Boredoms of Merzbow te luisteren en Melt Banana nog broekenschijters waren. Pientere lieden als Jello Biafra en Steve Albini (Albini nam regelmatig platen met ze op) waren er snel bij en zagen het potentieel van deze band, waarna geweldige albums op Alternative Tentacles en Skin Graft volgden. Of het nu post-, math-, noise- rock, metal of hardcore is, het aparte Zeni Geva geluid houdt zich met gemak staande tussen de hedendaagse genre brouwsels.

NEXT LIFE

Next Life halen hun inspiratie duidelijk uit computergame muziek (gitarist Hai Nguyen Dinh blies als zesjarige ooit de speakers van de familie tv op terwijl hij 'Exploding Fist' speelde op zijn Commodore 64), maar het is juist de combinatie van de computer muziek én de invloeden uit de betere teringherrie (zoals Next Life's jeugd helden: Assück, Earth Crisis en Man Is The Bastard) die de band tot een unieke muzikale ervaring maakt. Live wordt dit nog eens versterkt door de visuele dramaturgie (licht en visuals).

Slaughterin' Slobbersville is de titel van het bijzondere vaudevillle-achtige programma dat deze vrijdagavond zal vullen. In deze prettig gestoorde show maken de verschillende karakters in een continu veranderende reeks scènes deel uit van een absurdistisch verhaal dat zich in de toekomst afspeelt. De protagonisten van het reizende gezelschap Slobbersville hebben hun wortels in de muziek, cabaret en spoken word. Ze delen een passie voor het combineren van muziek en theater. De gedreven, deels geïmproviseerde performances die eruit resulteren moeten de geijkte verwachtingspatronen bij het publiek ondermijnen.



Slaughterin' Slobbersville is a traveling showcase of cross-collaborating artists. The show is an ever-changing sequence of first person vignettes hung loosely from the underlying conceptual history of a genetic mutant civil war in 2024. While the story takes place decades into the future, the format and aesthetic borrows heavily from the vaudevillian traveling shows of the past. The artists involved come from a variety of backgrounds - mostly from around the United States. Musically rooted in experimental, computer, noise, cabaret, and spoken word traditions, the artists all share a common passion for combining theater and music into visceral performances that defy expectations.

Costumes and sets are created from refuse and inexpensive materials often found along the journey. This contrasts sharply with highly technical computer driven projections, electronic music and sophisticated conceptual content. Collaborative contributions include the design of project specific software, homemade synthesizers, original compositions, choreography, and story-telling. The dichotomy between the makeshift folk aesthetic and technology is intentional; causing a suspension of disbelief between order and chaos that helps the viewer integrate with Slobbersville.

Although the core narrative of the show is well defined, the professionalism of the performers allows for a freedom of creative evolution from show to show. This is a central theme of vaudevillian traveling shows and is our motivating factor for undertaking this project. Video documentation throughout the tour will illustrate the unfolding development of Slobbersville and capture the resulting spontaneous collective inventions.

Een avond vol scherpe underground hiphop! CX uit de Big Apple maakte furore met Antipop Consortium, tourde met Nine Inch Nails en is dj voor Saul Williams. De behanekamde electro punk hiphopper met de bilnaad fetish brandde zo'n twee jaar geleden diepe sporen in het Worm podium en is nu weer terug met een nieuwe, niet te versmaden Liveshow. De westkust van de VS wordt vertegenwoordigd door de uit L.A. afkomstige Subtitle; zijn geëngageerde indie hiphop wordt gekenmerkt door rhymes die op het randje van de spoken word balanceren. De muziek van producer Frietboer (aka Je Weet) is meer dan alleen een veelbelovende Nederlandse appetizer. Samen met de spoken word/vocal/mcing van Tens staat hij garant voor “Dikke Distortionalised Boom bap”.

Almost five years after their first performance at Worm (http://www.kindamuzik.net/live/light...lightning-bolt) can Lightning BOLT still be seen as one of the most exciting Live bands on the planet. Nothing needs to be added here. Mudboy originates from the creative hub of Providence, Rhode Island where he together with LB worked out of the famous Fort Thunder. Inspired by the early minimalists like Terry Riley and Dub he creates drone-like nocturnes with (self build) keyboards, effects and voice which contrast with the craziness of LB.

We'll be celebrating our 10th anniversary with the best of what Denmark, Canada and Argentina currently have to offer: BASKETBALL is a new trio from Vancouver packed with driving percussion combined with invigorating electronica and epic vocals. Could be catalogued musically somewhere between Gang Gang Dance, Konono No. 1 and Modeselektor - like sitting up at sunrise playing the old school version of Prince Of Persia with that 15-hour rave still throbbing in your head. The sensational Danish live band ANALOGIK describe themselves as “happy sailor music with a twist of balkan, hip-hop, computer game music, dub, cowboy music, jazz and much more”. To us they sound like a mix between dub, ska, idm, Aavikko, Calexico and JAHTARI's back catalogue. Which brings us to BO MARLEY's '100% Voltage Controlled Reggae roots'. Moreover we have the catchy electronica of LAZERLYDE, and as if that weren't enough we have a film about THE MONKS and our latest addition to the line up is none other than the son of cumbia!
