C’est la belle vie pour Luke Vibert. Bientôt dix ans qu’il sort des disques un peu par dessus la jambe, sans jamais chercher à compliquer une formule qui marche en ces temps de jemenbranlisme. En gros, je te découpe vite fait un petit bout d’un morceau bidon, je te cale un beat bien bateau par dessus, je fais une pause spliff, et ensuite je mets un peu tout et n’importe quoi (des extraits de dialogues, des cris d’animaux, des sons technoïdes un peu hors-contexte…), du moment que ça plaît à mes oreilles perverties par la weed. Du coup, en particulier sur cet album, on a l’impression d’un disque où l’état d’esprit de l’auditeur est plus essentiel que l’effort du producteur. Et c’est vachement sympa, on se détend quoi. C’est là, tant mieux, sinon, tant pis. Surtout que la flemme donne parfois beaucoup de charme aux sons et à l’ « écriture » de Wagon Christ. La deuxième piste donne à la fois l’impression de se prélasser sur une île du Pacifique et d’être le héros d’un téléfilm policier danois. C’est d’ailleurs vers les musiques de film que Vibert devrait s’orienter s’il veut découvrir de nouvelles façons de s’amuser. Car il est quand même un peu triste de voir le côté cannibale et schizophrénique de ses premières productions (les fascinants maxis de Plug –dont l’empreinte marque le septième morceau de Musipal- ou l’indélébile At Atmos EP) disparaître au profit d’une tendance au downtempo standardisé –quoique de bonne qualité. Mais allez, c’est toujours mieux que la moyenne, et le grain du son est toujours aussi appréciable au casque.
