Pedal to the metal

Pedal to the metal, hard work, jamming and polyrhythmics are what Textures is all about. Textures wants progress. To stand still is to fall behind. Musical clichés only exist to be avoided at all costs. A modern and diverse sound is what it’s all about.

Together in the current setup since the summer of 2001. Six musicians, each with their own unique view on music. Six links needed to produce the Textures-sound.

There are multiple words, defining this sound. Dynamic, aggressive, refreshing, atmospheric. The use of advanced technology and uncommon measures isn’t avoided in the least. Influences are gained from a great number of different genres. Still the hyped up songs remain accessible and interesting for all music lovers.



Ambitious

The band members have all had their fair share of experience playing in other bands, before they united their forces in one collective. The musicians are on the other hand still young (24 years old, on average) and ambitious. For this reason, the first album recordings commenced at the end of 2001. A naive idea? On the contrary!

The band has all the technique and knowledge in store to produce the entire album by themselves, from building a complete studio to designing all the artwork.



Polars

The huge dedication of the musicians results in a debut album; POLARS, with a close to 1 hour playtime. The title POLARS reflects every aspect of the band. The singing, song structures, lyrics and the personalities within the band. Eight tracks, which make clear that Textures is larger than the sum of her parts.

Ik heb dus dat nummer gedownload. Toen ik de gitaar hoorde op 't begin dacht ik al: "Hmmz." Toen hoorde ik de bas en dacht. "Hmmz, wat een kolere geluid voor een bas." (Wat type geluid is dat van die bas? Heeft dat een naam?) Toen begon de zang en de drum. Tja, en dan merk je toch echt dat 't niet op PunkRock, PowerMetal of Rock lijkt. Niet mijn muziek. Zit mij te weinig swung in. 't Is meer van de hak op de tak muziek en dat is niks voor mij. Dat kunnen mijn lieve kleine oortjes niet aan. Helaas.

Ik ken een aantal bandleden persoonlijk. Bart (gitarist) is de ex van mijn stiefzus. En Pieter (oude zanger), gaat wel eens uit in hetzelfde cafe als ik.

Polars is echt een goede debuutcd! Ik heb Textures ook al een aantal keer live gezien, ik vind het echt een aanrader.

Hmm, ik vraag me af hoe die nieuwe zanger (Eric, ex-Brainshake) is inderdaad. Ik hoor wel van iedereen dat hij heel wat meer in z'n mars heeft dan Pieter. Ach ja, ik zal ze vast nog wel een keer zien / horen.

Ben idd benieuwd naar de combinatie met de nieuwe zanger. Heb deze hele band nog niet live gezien, maar ik weet wel dat hij bij Brainshake een enorm goede stem had live....
