Hallo allemaal!
Ik ben net bezig geweest met woorden vertalen en zinnen erbij maken. Uit de zinnen moet de betekenis van de zin blijken.
Zou je ze alsjeblieft even willen nakijken. Een paar die ik niet wist, heb ik open gelaten.
Alvast heel erg bedankt!! Het zijn er nog al veel, maar met een paar zal je me al helpen !

To assess, assessment = schatten, schatting, vastelling

Wealth = rijkdom

Considerable = aanzienlijk

To trawl = doorzoeken (figuurlijk)

Comprehensive = uitgebreid
- All the financial records are fairly comprehensive.

Receipts = ontvangsten
- The receipts were not come up to expectations.

The amount = de hoeveelheid
- The amount an artist makes from record sales has dramatically changed.

Revenues = inkomsten
- One of the biggest sources of income is concert revenues.

To assume = aannemen, veronderstellen
- It is assumed that 15% of the wholesale price goes to the artist.

The seeds = de zaden
- The seeds of this were sown some years earlier.

Settlement = regeling, afrekening
- As part of the settlement, he would receive 50% of the royalties.

Royalty, -ies = aandeel in de opbrengst

Money-spinner = iets dat geld in het laatje brengt.

To comprise = bestaan uit

Empire = rijk
- He runs his empire from an old house.

Staggering = waarvan je versteld staat
- In 1993 alone, he took home a staggering 24 million.

To boost = opvoeren
- His finances were boosted by his new album.

Equivalent = gelijkwaardig
- The amount was equivalent with a new house.

To increase = vergroten
- His wealth was increased by his new album.

Outrage, outrageous = belediging, gewelddaad, beledigend, gewelddadig
-He was outrageous when he threw a bomb inside the house.
- She doesn’t like the outrage about the woman.

Expense, expenditure = uitgaaf, uitgaven
- Because of the many employers of our company, the expenditure was very high.

To record, a record = opnemen, plaat
- The artist will make a lot of money with recording this record.

Merchant, merchandise = koopman, koopwaar
- The merchandises earned a lot of money.

To license, a license = vergunning verlenen, licentie

to assassinate = vermoorden
- The stranger assassinated the woman.

To (mis)interpret = interpreteren, misduiden
- He misinterpreted the words of the woman.

Out of proportion = niet in verhouding, fig: overdriven
- The great edifice was out of proportion with the little town.

To keep your head down = het hoofd neerbuigen
- He had kept his head down for long enough and started a new life.

wie geeft er eigenlijk obligaties uit? Bedrijven?

= antologie ? Een collectie van geslecteerde (vaak beste) muziek, literaire of kunststukken.
The Beatles anthology on dvd I proudly own as a true fan of this British band from the sixties.

To commute, commuter = pendelen, forenzen, pendelaar, forens

It's exhausting commuting from Haarlem to Amsterdam every day.

kept on a tight leash betkend volgens mij dat iemand word kortgehouden. Ik weet eigenlijk niet of dat t goede nederlandse woord ervoor is. maar iedergeval dat van iemand precies word bepaald wat hij/zij mag/moet doen.

Ik denk dat dit wel klopt. Ik kwam zelf voor "iemand kort houden" de vertaling "to keep somebody on a tight rein" tegen, waarbij het Engelse rein als teugel of leidsel vertaald wordt, dus "to keep somebody on a tight rein" zou je wat dat betreft ook als "iemand in toom houden" kunnen vertalen.
